Zurich (AP) – FIFA President Gianni Infantino says two incidents of alleged racist abuse have been damaged German Cup<\/span> The game is “unacceptable” as German police investigate.<\/p>\nInfantino’s comments came the day after Christopher Antwi-Adjei of Schalke said he was He is exposed to racist abuse<\/span> Cup games at Lokomotive Leipzig. “It is unacceptable that an incident occurred in two DFB-Pokal matches in Germany,” Infantino wrote on social media, using the German name for competition. “There is no place for racism or discrimination in soccer.”<\/p>\n
Infantino said the FIFA player’s audio panels are “in touch” with the German Football Federation. <\/p>\n
“FIFA, the voice panels of players, and the entire football community stand firmly on everyone affected by these events. We are committed to making players respected and protected, and competition organizers and law enforcement take appropriate action,” Infantino added.<\/p>\n
Antwi-Adjei has filed a complaint about the incident that Lokomotive Leipzig and police are investigating, Schalke said late Sunday. At RSV Eintracht, fans and security quickly identified the suspect’s perpetrator, and fans from both teams chanted “Nazis,” reported by German agency DPA.<\/p>\n
The German incident came two days after Bournemouth forward Antoine Semegno reported being racially abused by audience members While playing in Liverpool<\/span>. The game was temporarily suspended as the referee spoke to the coaches and captains of both teams.<\/p>\nPolice said Saturday that a 47-year-old Liverpool man was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order crimes. He was taken into custody for interviews. Infantino says the FIFA player’s audio panel will contact Semenyo.<\/p>\n
