And the Portuguese superstar is expected to announce his intention to remain at Old Trafford by the end of the month.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Fernandes is currently on summer break after participating in the North American World Cup. The United captain is expected to return to pre-season training next week. Discussions are continuing between his representatives and United&#8217;s leadership over a new and improved contract.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Although no deal has been reached, Fernandes is understood to have decided to commit to United.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>For the past 12 months, his future has been in doubt.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Last summer, Fernandes considered leaving United to cash in on a lucrative contract in the Saudi Professional League.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>He decided to spend one more season at Old Trafford instead to see if the club matched his ambitions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The appointment of Michael Carrick as manager brought about a big change for Fernandes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>United are continuing to sign Carrick to ensure a return to the Champions League and give him the best chance of winning the trophy next season.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Fernandes, 31, is in the final season of his current contract, with an option for a 12-month extension.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Carrick is keen to secure Fernandes&#8217; future as he aims to win the Premier League next season.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>And with Fernandes aware this could be the last big deal of his career at the highest level, last season&#8217;s Player of the Year is expected to become the club&#8217;s highest-paid star player on a deal worth around \u00a3400,000-a-week.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Retaining Fernandes would be a huge boost for United given how influential he has been since joining from Sporting Lisbon in a \u00a347m deal in 2020.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/sport\/football\/2231808\/Bruno-Fernandes-Man-Utd-transfer-contract-announcement\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bruno Fernandes has agreed to commit his future to Manchester United.
