LONDON (AP) – Liverpool’s American owners are in talks with Indian investors, including the Mittal family, for a minority stake that values \u200b\u200bthe storied soccer club at more than $6 billion. The Financial Times reported on Tuesday.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fenway Sports Group, which paid \u00a3300 million ($400 million) to buy Liverpool in 2010 and also owns the Boston Red Sox, confirmed the talks in a statement to the FT.<\/p>\n

\u201cAn investment consortium led, managed and represented by Mr. Amit Bhatia has expressed interest in making a strategic minority investment in Liverpool Football Club,\u201d FSG said.<\/p>\n

Mr. Bhatia, who is married to the daughter of steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, also Tuesday left<\/span> From his long-standing co-ownership of English second-division club Queens Park Rangers, where he was chairman from 2018 to 2023.<\/p>\n

Under the leadership of FSG and its chief owner John Henry, Liverpool ended a 30-year wait to become English champions in 2020 and added a new Premier League title last year. This brings them level with Manchester United on 20 English league titles.<\/p>\n

That club is 6th European Champion<\/span> \u2014 British team record \u2014 In 2019, they reached two finals: Jurgen Klopp<\/span> They lost to Real Madrid in 2018 and 2022.<\/p>\n
