The former Newcastle manager&#8217;s family said: &#8220;It is with great sadness that we announce that Kevin Keegan has passed away at the age of 75. Kevin was battling cancer and was surrounded by his wife and daughters in his final moments.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Two-time Ballon d&#8217;Or winner Kevin was a much-loved husband, father and grandfather. The family would like to thank Kevin&#8217;s amazing medical team for their support. &#8220;These are very difficult times and they are asking for space and privacy.&#8221;And the Magpies have paid a beautiful tribute to the iconic former England forward, who, after making 85 appearances in the black and white stripes as a player, managed the club 273 times as manager.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The club released an emotional statement saying: &#8220;We are shocked to learn of the passing of Kevin Keegan, one of the most iconic, influential and much-loved figures in our club&#8217;s history.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKevin was more than just a legendary footballer and manager, he was the beating heart of Newcastle United for generations of supporters.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a player, he brought world-class talent, ambition and belief to St James&#8217;s Park and helped change perceptions of what Newcastle United is about.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a manager, he set our city on fire. Kevin gave our supporters hope and pride and led a team whose style, spirit and passion captured the imagination of football fans around the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was much more than an entertainer. Above all, Kevin had an extraordinary bond with Newcastle based on his father Joe\u2019s roots.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe understood our people.
