He will replace veteran Simon Mignolet, who retired in May at the age of 38 after helping Bruges win the Belgian league title.<\/p>\n<p>Sommer will return to the Champions League after helping Inter reach the final in 2025, where they lost 5-0 to Paris Saint-Germain. Inter was great <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\">Eliminated by Bod\u00f8\/Glimt<\/span> Last season, in the knockout round of the playoffs.<\/p>\n<p>Sommer won league titles with Inter, Bayern Munich and in Switzerland with Basel, where he started his career.<\/p>\n<p>He has played 94 games for Switzerland and participated in every World Cup from 2014 to 2022.
