Jordan Henderson’s father has said the England midfielder’s forearm was “completely shattered” in a freak injury scare shortly after the 3-2 win over Mexico. The 36-year-old fell on a billboard during the celebrations that overshadowed his famous World Cup victory at Azteca Stadium and was carried away on a stretcher and required oxygen.<\/p>\n
Unused substitute Henderson was devastated after jubilant celebrations against the touring Three Lions after Jude Bellingham’s double and Harry Kane penalty sealed their place in the quarter-finals. The former Liverpool captain remained in Mexico City while his teammates returned to their home base in Kansas City, where he underwent surgery.<\/p>\n
Father Brian, 36, revealed that England will remain in the United States to advance to the July 19 final, which will take on Norway for a place in the semi-finals on Saturday. Henderson Senior told Mail Online: “It’s his left forearm. He just completely fractured it.<\/p>\n
“He will be put in a cast, but after that it will depend on the opinion of the experts. He has no intention of leaving his teammates. He will be there until the end.”<\/p>\n

The Champions League and Premier League winner’s father remains in England and is watching the World Cup from afar, but he did not realize the seriousness of the injury at the time. BBC Sport TV’s report did not cover the incident and revealed that one of the England participants was injured during the celebrations and was being treated.<\/p>\n
Newcastle United defender Dan Byrne was also first on the scene and said Brian had been waiting for an update throughout the night and then into the early morning hours.<\/p>\n
“At first I thought he had fallen. I thought he had scraped his wrist,” Bryan said, adding that a surgeon with experience treating NFL stars was on hand to treat the midfielder.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen they were interviewing Harry Kane, I didn’t think it was that serious until a trolley with Jordan on it came by and I could see him there with oxygen and stuff.<\/p>\n
“I immediately messaged his PA over there to find out what happened. I was up all night waiting for the news. Now I’m just waiting for the game.”<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, Henderson spoke out about the incident for the first time. The injury was shared widely after a video was posted of Mirror Football’s Ryan Taylor introducing England’s celebrations inside the Aztecs, watched by millions around the world. Henderson’s bizarre and unfortunate World Cup moment was captured as players and staff dispersed.<\/p>\n
The 36-year-old did not play against his co-hosts, but spoke from the sidelines and was even booked in the closing stages. He said, “It was definitely an unforgettable night! They overcame all the difficulties and gave a great performance.<\/p>\n
“So proud to be part of this special team (emoji). Thank you for all the support. Saturday will be another big event.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
