Tottenham on Monday signed Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali from Newcastle for a reported \u00a3100 million ($133 million), a club record deal, increasing their off-season spending to more than $300 million.<\/p>\n
This is the second time in five days that Tottenham have broken their transfer record. This is an unprecedented spending spree for Tottenham, who have long lagged behind their main rivals in the Premier League in terms of player spending.<\/p>\n

Tottenham have also raised money over the past year, winning the Europa League in 2025 and reaching the round of 16 in the Champions League last season.<\/p>\n
Newcastle transfer business<\/h2>\n
Tonali’s sale – the second-highest fee Newcastle have ever received for a player after Alexander Isak, who left for Liverpool last year – comes a day after the club signed Bazmana Toure for an estimated \u00a343 million (about $57 million).<\/p>\n
Toure, who just finished the World Cup with Ivory Coast, is a winger and appears to be a similar player. Anthony Gordon’s replacement<\/span>. The England international joined Barcelona before the World Cup.<\/p>\nToure, 20, joined Hoffenheim for more than five times the fee he paid for Swedish club Hammarby a year and a half ago. Last season, he scored five goals in the Bundesliga and provided nine assists, tied for fourth among all players.<\/p>\n
