The World Cup match between Spain and Uruguay exploded in the final stages, with Agustin Canobbio being shown a straight red card for a horror challenge. The 27-year-old had some heated moments before being sent off for a reckless challenge on Pau Kvarsi.<\/p>\n
Fortunately, he was not penalized for a number of vicious tackles early in the match and for his reaction to the collision between Nico Williams and Nicolas de la Cruz. The latter was one of four players shown a yellow card before Canobbio was sent off, angering the Spanish side as referee Ismail Elfas allowed the match to flow better.<\/p>\n
In the end, people were furious about the incident and had no choice but to send off Canobbio, who was challenging Kvarsi along with Marc Cucurella.<\/p>\n
As Canobbio was being sent off the pitch, both benches clashed and Canobbio tried to return to the field to continue his argument against his dismissal.<\/p>\n
The full-time whistle sounded shortly after the flashpoint and Canobbio made his way to the referees before being dragged out of the precarious situation by his teammates.<\/p>\n
It was a particularly dismal tournament for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, who failed to beat both Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n
They also lost Manuel Ugarte to injury, and Bielsa said goalkeeper Fernando Muslera was also asked to come off the bench after the mistake that led to Spain’s goal.<\/p>\n

As a result of not gaining any points in the match against Spain, Cape Verde finished in second place and advanced to the final round with a draw with Saudi Arabia, who finished last.<\/p>\n
Facing World Cup champions Argentina in the last 32 is a reward for them, with Lionel Messi and others already assured of winning their group.<\/p>\n
The latest results make it mathematically impossible for Ghana, England and Egypt to be eliminated. The latter are scheduled to play New Zealand in just a few hours, looking to take advantage of the round of 32 tie.<\/p>\n
