The national anthem was again booed by those in attendance, and captain Alireza Jahanbakhsh addressed the incident. Jeremy Doku missed the game with a chest infection, but the Belgium and Manchester City star remains in the headlines as the furor over his impending absence continues. With the birth of their first child on the horizon, L’Equipe host France Pierron verbally abused the winger, but reports say she has been suspended for her abuse. Uruguay came from behind to draw with inferior Cape Verde, overcoming a near-fatal scare. The Cape Verdians took the lead with a long-range free kick from Kevin Pina, and two goals at the end of the first half gave the South American team the lead. But Marcelo Bielsa’s side shot themselves in the foot when they were punished by Helio Varela, who equalized after a disastrous display. Darwin Nunez, expected to make a sensational return to Liverpool, tried to make a difference but continued to struggle and was unable to save his country from a humiliating result.
