The manager, whose contract runs until 2027, and the midfielder, whose contract with Barcelona was due to end, may be closer to staying with the club than leaving.<\/p>\n
City’s turnaround?<\/h2>\n
Guardiola had hoped to end his tenure with a more successful season. Despite lifting the FA Cup against Chelsea this Saturday, the Premier League title remains in the hands of Arsenal, with Real Madrid knocking Arsenal out of the Champions League.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, after eight seasons at the Etihad Stadium, making 404 appearances and winning 18 titles, Silva has decided not to renew his contract with the Citizens, hinting that he wants to leave England and pursue new challenges.<\/p>\n
In a statement, the 31-year-old Portuguese player said he had already said goodbye to the club and its fans and was in talks with Barcelona through his agent Jorge Mendes.<\/p>\n
However, SPORT reports that something has changed within Manchester City’s camp regarding Pep and Bernardo.<\/p>\n
Barcelona have not yet finalized their squad for next season and Deco feels the midfielder is in uncertain territory as he cannot guarantee to Jorge Mendes whether the player will secure a secure place in the team or a contract commensurate with his status next season. His desire to resolve the situation before the FIFA World Cup, which begins on June 11, could mean things could go in a different direction. That’s not all.<\/p>\n
Guardiola is not satisfied with recent results. He feels he has the strength to fulfill his contract with a team that supports him at City, including Silva.<\/p>\n
This could essentially lead to negotiations between the manager, the club and Bernardo regarding an unexpected contract extension for the Portuguese player.<\/p>\n
As of now, there is no clear official decision, but the future of both City stars will definitely be in the spotlight.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
