The next television footage showed Eriksson lying on his back on the ground, surrounded by worried-looking players. Ukraine’s coaching staff could also be seen waving to medical personnel as they headed onto the field.<\/p>\n
Within minutes, the Danish Football Federation sent a post to X saying Eriksen was “conscious and doing well under the circumstances.”<\/p>\n
more complete statement<\/span> The federation’s notification came 10 minutes later, with Danish team doctor Morten Bosen saying: “Christian is feeling well and left the pitch alone. From what I saw, the pacemaker responded appropriately.”<\/p>\n“He briefly lost consciousness, but quickly regained consciousness and we made contact with him immediately.”<\/p>\n
Borsen said Eriksen “will now undergo further tests at the hospital to determine the cause of the incident.”<\/p>\n
“We are in continuous contact with him and the doctors at the hospital,” Bosen added. “But Christian is fine. He asked me to say hello to all the players and let them know they are safe.”<\/p>\n
After match officials spoke to both coaches and the players’ team, the match was officially called off by the referee in the 79th minute, with Denmark leading 2-1 and with no further play after Eriksen went down.<\/p>\n
The crowd was initially silent until chants of “Eriksen, Eriksen” echoed throughout the stadium while Eriksen was receiving treatment.<\/p>\n
After the game was called off, players from both teams formed a circle around both coaches on half the field. Coaches were also seen speaking to the players. The team then walked around the field to applause from the crowd, some of the players visibly shaken.<\/p>\n

Eriksen, one of Denmark’s all-time great players, was fitted with an implantable defibrillator for several months after collapsing on his face in the opening group game of the 2021 European Championship against Finland in Copenhagen.<\/p>\n

Eriksen resumed his career as a professional player<\/span> 259 days after signing for Premier League side Brentford. United said: “The club sends strength and love to Christian and the Eriksen family as we await further news.”<\/p>\n
