Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish, 75, has posted a statement on social media, revealing that he is undergoing treatment for cancer.<\/h2>\n

Sir Kenny Dalglish has revealed that he is undergoing treatment for cancer. The 75-year-old Liverpool legend confirmed the news in a post on social media.<\/p>\n
“As my careless social media posts have shown, I am currently undergoing treatment for cancer. Unlike my cell phone usage, my treatment is progressing well.<\/p>\n
“Ideally, this should have been kept private, as it should be, but my useless technology skills forced me to make this public. So please respect my family’s and my own privacy.”<\/p>\n
“As always, I would like to thank our wonderful medical staff for showing incredible care and thoughtfulness not only to me, but to so many others. They are a credit to themselves.”<\/p>\n
It is understood that Dalglish was referring to the time he accidentally posted a hospital appointment letter on his Instagram Story.<\/p>\n
His son Paul Dalglish responded by writing: “Love you dad.” England and Newcastle hero Alan Shearer replied: “We’re all with Kenny.” Former England striker Toni Duggan added: “Sending him lots of love.”<\/p>\n
Paul added on his Instagram Story, “Dad, my best friend, my hero. You suck on social media, but you’re the strongest man I know. You get it. I love you.”<\/p>\n
In a statement, Liverpool said: “The support, best wishes and love of everyone at Liverpool FC has been and continues to be extended to Sir Kenny and his family. The club would also like to underline his continued request for privacy.”<\/p>\n
Dalglish is a Liverpool legend, scoring 172 goals in 515 appearances between 1977 and 1990. After moving to Hamburg, he replaced Kevin Keegan and helped the club win six league titles, four League Cups and one FA Cup.<\/p>\n
Following Joe Fagan’s resignation, the Scotsman became player-manager from 1985 to 1990, achieving great success with three league titles and two FA Cup wins. Following the sacking of manager Roy Hodgson, he was appointed manager of Liverpool again in the 2011-12 season and won the League Cup.<\/p>\n
He was Liverpool’s ambassador at Anfield and remains very closely associated with the club to this day.<\/p>\n

Sadly, the Dalglish family has been touched by cancer before, with Kenny’s wife Marina undergoing treatment for breast cancer in the early 2000s. The couple then set up the Marina Dalglish Appeal to raise money for cancer treatment.<\/p>\n
The news follows Mr Keegan’s announcement on Monday that he is currently battling stage 4 cancer. Speaking to fans on stage, Keegan said: “I was told there was a top doctor who had this new way of fighting this disease that you all have. It’s stage four cancer. He was a Liverpool supporter so I went to see him. I knew I wouldn’t be walking alone, if you know what I mean.”<\/p>\n
Keegan’s family revealed earlier this year that he had been diagnosed with cancer. “I was in a car accident and had to have surgery as a result of it,” the Liverpool and Newcastle icon said on stage at the Tyne Theater and Opera House on Sunday.<\/p>\n
“The doctor said, ‘Kevin, with this new treatment, I have an incredible strike rate.’ I said, ‘What’s your strike rate?’ He said, ’33 percent.’ I thought it was 80%, 90%. 33%! I’m still here. \u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
