Manchester United have the chance to address a weakness in their squad this summer with the signing of Robert Lewandowski. The experienced frontman’s departure from Barcelona would give Michael Carrick’s team a golden opportunity to lure him to Old Trafford.<\/p>\n
The 37-year-old remains a prolific goalscorer despite falling down the pecking order at the Camp Nou. He scored 14 times, scoring every 118 minutes in the league, until the Catalan club won the La Liga title.<\/p>\n
Lewandowski turned down a reduced contract with Barca after losing his starting spot in Hansi Flick’s side. The striker has attracted interest from clubs across Europe as well as from Saudi Arabia and the United States, with MLS club Chicago Fire continuing to lobby to bring him to the United States, although no decision has yet been made on his next move. One thing remains beyond doubt: he will not play for Barcelona next season.<\/p>\n
The uncertainty surrounding Lewandowski’s future gives United the chance to land a high-profile free transfer. Although a veteran of both Germany and Spain, he has yet to cut his teeth in English football and a move to United could be an attractive proposition.<\/p>\n

Signing a new striker is not United’s main priority, with midfield reinforcements being top of the list. But the world-class forward available on a free transfer should never be ignored, especially as United prepare for a return to Champions League football.<\/p>\n
Michael Carrick’s side have enjoyed the luxury of not qualifying for Europe this season, but next season will place even greater demands on them. Young striker Benjamin Sesco attracted attention during his spell as caretaker manager and is still working to establish himself and improve his game.<\/p>\n
Mateusz Cunha and Brian Mbeumo are both capable of leading the attack, but Lewandowski would bring a completely different dimension to United’s squad. He has been an elite centre-forward for over a decade and will be able to pass on his goalscoring wisdom to Sesco and the rest of the team.<\/p>\n
It’s a blueprint United have followed several times in recent years. Zlatan Ibrahimovic made an immediate impact, Edinson Cavani became a firm fan favorite and Cristiano Ronaldo scored 27 goals in 54 appearances by the end of his second spell at the club.<\/p>\n

Lewandowski’s eye for goal remains as sharp as ever. The Polish striker will relish the chance to prove himself in England, even in a rotational role, while United’s front line could benefit from a wealth of experience at the highest level.<\/p>\n
In his four years at Barcelona, \u200b\u200bLewandowski won La Liga three times. Furthermore, since 2010, he has won an astonishing 13 league titles during his spells at clubs Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Catalonia.<\/p>\n
Lewandowski’s hunger for success could prove invaluable to Carrick’s side as United look to progress further and challenge for silver.<\/p>\n
