After the match, the Egyptian winger received a guard of honor from his Liverpool team-mates and staff and walked through it in tears.<\/p>\n

“I cried the most in my life, but it’s very difficult to leave a place like this,” Salah said. “I also cried a little at the practice field.<\/p>\n

“I’m not a very emotional person. You don’t see that much in the media. You always see me as tough and aggressive. But inside I’m like a baby.”<\/p>\n

Salah leaves Liverpool having made 442 appearances, scoring 257 goals and providing 120 assists. Curtis Jones’ assist against Brentford was his 93rd in the Premier League, breaking Liverpool’s record, which he shared with club great Steven Gerrard.<\/p>\n

Salah is the superstar name of Liverpool’s greatest team of his generation, having won the Premier League twice (once under Jurgen Klopp and once under current manager Arne Slott) and one Champions League title out of a total of eight since joining from Roma in 2017.<\/p>\n

Salah is third on Liverpool’s all-time goalscorer list behind Ian Rush and Roger Hunt and has won the Golden Boot award four times as the Premier League’s top scorer. His 193 goals in the Premier League are the most by a Liverpool player and more than any other overseas player.<\/p>\n

“We spent our youth here and shared everything from start to finish,” Salah said in a post-match interview alongside Andy Robertson, who is also leaving at the end of the season. \u201cWe would never have dreamed of what we have, but we have achieved it for this club.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe put it back where it belongs.\u201d<\/p>\n

And what is his message to the players who follow him?<\/p>\n

“Look, the club is fighting for everything right now and the fans won’t accept anything less,” Salah said.<\/p>\n

“They don’t care about the consequences. As long as you sweat and bleed, they will love you forever.”<\/p>\n
