Disappointed by this exclusion, Boro released a bombshell statement claiming that this action directly undermines the integrity of the sport and fair competition.<\/p>\n<p>Expulsion demands: Southampton beat Boro 2-1 on aggregate to reach the play-off final, but Middlesbrough demanded Saints be expelled from the centerpiece of Wembley. They argue that sporting sanctions to prevent Southampton from playing are the only appropriate response to deter future misconduct.<\/p>\n<p>Possible return and delay: If the Independent Disciplinary Commission upholds the charges and expels Southampton, Middlesbrough are likely to replace Southampton and face Hull City.
