Liverpool’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League are in jeopardy after another miserable defeat against Aston Villa on Friday night, but Mo Salah has now spoken out.<\/h2>\n

Mohamed Salah has called for Liverpool to “regain their identity” after another disastrous weekend under manager Arne Slott.<\/p>\n
The dethroned champions suffered a disastrous 4-2 defeat to Aston Villa, leaving their Champions League place in jeopardy ahead of the final game of the season. Morgan Rodgers gave the hosts the lead at the Second City before Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk equalized.<\/p>\n
A brace from Ollie Watkins and another goal from John McGinn sealed Villa’s victory, but Van Dijk’s second goal was only a stoppage-time consolation.<\/p>\n
The defeat leaves Liverpool in fifth place, just five points behind Bournemouth ahead of their final game against Brentford. Salah, who is scheduled to leave the club at the end of this season, gave a strong message to his teammates.<\/p>\n

“I have witnessed this club go from doubters to believers and from believers to champions. It took a lot of hard work and I have always given my all to help the club get there. I could not be more proud,” the Egyptian forward wrote on Instagram. “To collapse this season with yet another defeat was extremely painful and not what the fans deserved.” I want Liverpool to go back to being a heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear, and a team that wins trophies.<\/p>\n
“That’s the football I know how to play and it’s an identity that we need to recover and hold onto forever. It’s non-negotiable and everyone who joins this club needs to adapt to it.” Winning a game here and there is not how Liverpool should be. All teams win the match. Liverpool will always be a club that means a lot to me and my family. I want to see them succeed after they move on.<\/p>\n

“As we have always said, qualifying for next season’s Champions League is the minimum requirement and we will do everything in our power to make that happen.”<\/p>\n
Liverpool’s title defense has been disastrous under Arne Slott. They have already lost 12 times this season in the Premier League alone.<\/p>\n
Delivering his verdict, the Liverpool manager said: “It was too damaging because we needed a win, or maybe two draws would have been enough. But now we know one thing for sure: If we have to win ourselves, we need to win next week.”<\/p>\n
“As we all know, of course for us to win, the other teams need to get points as well, so it’s really damaging for us not to get a result here today, let alone win. There were parts of the game where I felt it could have gone our way if we had gotten a result.<\/p>\n
“But I think what people mainly focus on is the period after 2-1 when we couldn’t find any momentum anymore and conceded two more goals. That was the most difficult period of the game.”<\/p>\n
