Spurs have had another miserable season in the Premier League and are under a very real threat of relegation heading into the final few games of the season, with former manager Daniel Levy speaking out about their woes.<\/h2>\n

Former Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has claimed he never expected the club’s relegation threat to come “for the first time in a million years”. The North London side have had a miserable season in the Premier League this season.<\/p>\n
Despite a four-game unbeaten run under new manager Roberto de Zerbi, Spurs sit 17th in the table, just two points behind West Ham with two games remaining, and former president Levy insists he did not foresee their problems.<\/p>\n
Asked if he saw a relegation battle breaking out during his investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle on Wednesday, he said: “Never, no, not in a million years.”<\/p>\n
When asked what his biggest emotion was after facing the threat of relegation, he replied: “The emptiness…I feel the pain, but I’m optimistic that we’ll get through it. It’s been very, very difficult. Spurs is in my blood. I couldn’t have imagined anything like this at the beginning of the season.”<\/p>\n

“Obviously, it’s incredibly disappointing. We just have to move on and really hope we can stay in the Premier League next season.”<\/p>\n
And while Levy, who left his role at Spurs after 25 years in September, has been turned a blind eye to his former club’s woes, he remains confident Spurs will not start next season as a Championship club.<\/p>\n
He added: “I’m optimistic that we’ll stay in the Premier League. I think Tottenham have a great manager and all the fans, all the employees and everyone is behind him right now.”<\/p>\n

“Let’s hope the players can do it in the last two games. Like all the fans, it’s going to be an empty stomach. But we’ll bounce back.”<\/p>\n
“Let’s be optimistic. I hope that doesn’t happen. At the moment we just hope that Tottenham can somehow stay in the Premier League.”<\/p>\n
Levy also opened up about a conversation he had with Prince William at an event at Windsor Castle, revealing he had kind words for him ahead of Spurs’ clash with Chelsea and Everton.<\/p>\n
“When we played against Aston Villa a few weeks ago, I thanked them for allowing us (Tottenham) to win,” he said. “He wished us luck for the rest of the season and was very hopeful that Tottenham would survive in the Premier League.”<\/p>\n
