BBC Sport will broadcast the FA Youth Cup final between Manchester United and Manchester City on Thursday, after the broadcaster confirmed the news just over 24 hours before the match. They will stream the games along with TNT Sport.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The Manchester derby at the Joye Stadium will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and is produced by TNT Sports. The BBC will utilize TNT Sports’ bespoke feed coverage and commentary for digital viewers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The deal builds on the FA Cup partnership between the broadcasters, with TNT Sports sub-licensing matches to the BBC to complement live coverage. This will ensure that the more than 7,000 in-person spectators will be able to see the young stars of both teams.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Alex Kay Jelski, director of BBC Sport, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with TNT Sport to bring this year’s FA Youth Cup Final to audiences across the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity to bring together two great academies and some of the brightest young talent in English football, and we’re really pleased that through this collaboration, fans who can’t be at the venue in person will be able to watch the match live on BBC digital platforms. We’d like to thank TNT Sport.” FA made this possible. \u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Scott Young, Vice President of Sports Creative and Production at WBD Sports Europe, said: “We’re looking forward to broadcasting the FA Youth Cup Final, a fantastic showcase of football’s up-and-coming talent. We’re also expanding our partnership with the BBC to deliver the Manchester Derby. “We’re delighted to be able to bring the series to football fans and viewers across the UK in the way they choose to watch it. Our partnership with the BBC on the Emirates FA Cup has seen viewership growth across all platforms, and we’re excited to extend this to the FA Youth Cup.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The fixture between the rivals has already been controversial after City’s Etihad Stadium was deemed unusable, with the top team hosting Crystal Palace on Wednesday night. United were disappointed that their players had not experienced a first-team stadium and even offered Old Trafford as an alternative venue.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

First-team manager Michael Carrick believes his team should have been given a chance. “To be honest, I was disappointed,” said Carrick, who played in the 1999 final between West Ham and Coventry.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cI think getting to the Youth Cup final was always about playing in the main stadium, it\u2019s such a showcase event for players in that age group.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“I think we had some great memories, some of the best, in this tournament playing with some of our closest mates. It’s unfortunate that it didn’t work out for whatever reason. But listen, it’s a great game and a great opportunity for the boys to go there. The game itself is going to be good, and I’m looking forward to going to the game and cheering on the boys.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Carrick is expected to play in Thursday’s game and Under-18s coach Darren Fletcher believes it is an important move. The former England international will be able to see JJ Gabriel and striker Chido Obi in action among a talented group of teenagers as they aim to win the club’s 12th title.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“The players all love having a first-team manager there,” Fletcher said. \u201cIt shows he cares and he has an eye for it, and that\u2019s an inspiration to them.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt clearly shows them that this club cares about their young players and doesn\u2019t just talk about it. It\u2019s been throughout the history of the club, but when you see it in action it really comes to life. It\u2019s powerful and parents love it too.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
