Huddersfield Town have confirmed that head coach Liam Manning will leave the club, two months after he took compassionate leave following the tragic death of his son, a decision mutually taken by both teams.<\/h2>\n

Huddersfield Town manager Liam Manning will leave the club by mutual consent, two months after taking compassionate leave to deal with personal issues surrounding the tragic death of his son.<\/p>\n
Manning had been the Terriers’ manager since January, but resigned from the position two months later. The League One club said at the time that the decision was taken after “the club became aware of ongoing personal issues relating to the tragic death of their newborn son Theo in October 2024”.<\/p>\n
The 40-year-old was initially granted time off after managing just 17 games, but has now decided to part ways. Huddersfield said they and Manning had “consistently been in contact” but would now go their separate ways.<\/p>\n
Manning said: “It was a difficult decision to leave Huddersfield Town, but I believe it is the best decision for the club, my family and myself at this time.<\/p>\n
“It has been a privilege to manage this team and be part of this community. I would like to thank our fans for their support and consideration over the past few months. The club’s understanding and care has never been greater and I would like to thank Kevin Nagle, Chris Markham and the first-team staff and players for their professionalism, commitment and dedication in my absence.”<\/p>\n

\u201cAlthough my time has been shorter than I expected, I am grateful for the opportunity Kevin Nagle has entrusted to me and wish Huddersfield Town every success in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
Huddersfield finished the season in 9th place, eight points out of the play-off places. Manning previously led Bristol City to the Championship play-offs before ending a short and underwhelming spell at Norwich. He was out of work for just three months before getting the call from the Yorkshire side. And prior to their decision, their leaders have given their full support.<\/p>\n

It was during his time as manager of Bristol City that tragedy struck his family.<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Owner and Chairman Nagle said: “I want to pay huge tribute to Liam today. Stepping away from this role is the right decision for him and his family, and that comes first and foremost. His openness and honesty about this situation is second to none.”<\/p>\n
“Although his time at Huddersfield Town was relatively short, he has shown great care and respect for the club in the way he has dealt with us. He will always be a Terrier and will always be welcome back at Accu Stadium.”<\/p>\n
