Liverpool manager Arne Slott has provided an injury update ahead of Saturday’s home match against Chelsea, providing updates on Alexander Isak, Mohamed Salah, Alisson and Ibrahima Konate.<\/h2>\n

Manager Arne Slott has revealed that Alexander Isak is in contention to return for Liverpool’s crucial Premier League game against Chelsea on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The 26-year-old, who had a difficult first season with the Reds due to injury, missed last Sunday’s defeat to Manchester United after picking up a groin problem in training.<\/p>\n
However, the Sweden international could rejoin Slott’s side when they face the Blues at Anfield this weekend, with the Reds head coach revealing in his pre-match press conference that he had trained with the squad on Thursday.<\/p>\n
“Alex trained with us for the first time yesterday,” Slott said Friday afternoon. “Everything is good. He’s done some of it. Hopefully he’ll do some or all of it today and we’ll see how much we use him.”<\/p>\n

As well as giving an update on Isak, Slott also spoke about Alisson, Giorgi Mamadashvili, Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konate and Florian Wirths ahead of the match against Chelsea.<\/p>\n
Alisson missed the last match with a knee injury and Mamadashvili, who had deputized for the Brazilian, was stretchered off in the win over Everton with a knee problem. Salah picked up a hamstring problem against Crystal Palace last month, Konate missed training for personal reasons and Wirtz has been unwell this week.<\/p>\n
“Alison not yet, but Giorgi for the first time today,” added the Dutchman. He often looked irritated when asked about Liverpool’s injuries this season. “Mo is very close, as is Ali. Ibou had personal reasons for not training on Wednesday, but he trained yesterday and today. Florian was a little unwell, but he trained yesterday as well.”<\/p>\n

Liverpool’s home team, Chelsea, is on the verge of securing a place in next season’s Champions League. If Slott’s side win against the Blues, they will move nine points behind sixth-placed Bournemouth with three games remaining. The Reds boast a much better goal difference and will almost be guaranteed a spot in Europe’s elite club competition.<\/p>\n
On the Reds’ ambitions, with games against Chelsea, Aston Villa and Brentford coming up before the end of the season, Slott continued: “Good performances usually lead to results.<\/p>\n
“The first and main goal is to qualify for the Champions League and we have shown this season that we need good performances to get results. “The opposite has happened, where we have had good performances and not good results, and we have not had many bad performances and good results.<\/p>\n
“Winning a match usually requires a good performance.”<\/p>\n
