Luis Dias has improved since leaving Liverpool and could end the season as a treble winner at Bayern Munich, but the Reds’ decision to sell was part of the owner’s financial model.<\/h2>\n

Liverpool opted to let Luis Diaz go in the summer and, having watched him develop at Bayern Munich since then, felt their motivations for letting him leave were well thought out.<\/p>\n
The Colombian immediately caught the attention of manager Jurgen Klopp at the Reds when he signed him for 2022, and he continued to produce regularly since then, winning a Premier League winners’ medal in his final season at Anfield.<\/p>\n
Dias scored a record 17 goals in a Liverpool shirt last season, but has since been the subject of mass transfer interest. Bayern ultimately won the race, signing the 29-year-old for \u00a367.5 million. This left the Reds with a profit of \u00a327m.<\/p>\n
Liverpool felt Dias deserved a pay rise and were wise to the fact that he had two years left on his contract and was starting to warm up to the idea of \u200b\u200bpastures new. Despite last season’s impressive performance, the Merseysiders had a choice: keep the player and watch his value drop, or cash in.<\/p>\n
They chose the latter and Diaz has since formed a sensational attack alongside Harry Kane, who scored 100 goals, and Michael Oliseh. Liverpool, on the other hand, have fallen significantly in just 12 months.<\/p>\n

Despite Dias helping Bayern to a season that could have ended with them winning the Champions League en route to a treble, Liverpool knew they would be letting go of a player who was still at the peak of his powers. The Telegraph reported that the move was ultimately in line with Fenway Sports Group’s business model, given the financial circumstances involved.<\/p>\n
These funds helped Liverpool sign the likes of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike. The latter was the only player to make an impression in his debut year, but the other two were both outclassed for almost double the fee Dias paid Bayern.<\/p>\n

The Colombian has already produced his best performance of the season, scoring 26 goals in front of goal, with just a few weeks left in the campaign. His great run, touch and finish to score against PSG last week showed his quality.<\/p>\n
Diaz said of his move to the Allianz Arena: “I knew I was joining a club with an incredibly strong group of footballers, great infrastructure and top-class training facilities. There was no doubt about it. It was the most difficult move for me and my family. It was, and still is, a word… But I knew that I would fit in very well here and that I could contribute to the team’s success in my role, as I did before at Liverpool. FC Bayern have placed faith in me and I am trying to repay that trust.” \u201d<\/p>\n
