Manager Wayne Rooney predicted Arsenal will continue to win the Premier League title “easily” after opening up a six-point lead over Manchester City at Saturday’s summit.<\/p>\n
The Gunners scored twice with goals from Bukayo Saka and Victor Gokeres as they defeated Fulham 3-0. The win moves Arsenal to 76 points with three games remaining, while City currently have 70 points with two games in hand.<\/p>\n
Josep Guardiola’s side could move level on points with their title rivals if they win those two games, after almost erasing their previous lead by defeating Arsenal two weeks ago.<\/p>\n
However, Rooney said he felt Arsenal had done enough to beat City and win the title despite such a shock defeat, and even imagines the former champions slipping away before the end of the season to give Mikel Arteta and others a little more leeway.<\/p>\n

“I think Arsenal will win,” the former Manchester United and England striker said on Match of the Day. \u201cI felt that way after Man City beat Arsenal. It was probably in Arsenal\u2019s mind that they had to go to Man City and they could lose to Arsenal in the cup final.\u201d<\/p>\n
“But even after City’s loss, they are level on points, and I think the nature of the game is in Arsenal’s favor. I think Arsenal will win every game, and I could see City dropping down in the standings after one or two games.”<\/p>\n
\u201cArsenal are actually looking very comfortable, I think they are probably three or five points away.\u201d<\/p>\n

Arsenal will play their final three league games in London, with a home game against relegated Burnley flanked by trips to West Ham and Crystal Palace.<\/p>\n
A city trip to Everton on Monday night before games against Brentford, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Aston Villa. And while they have already rekindled their title hopes by closing a significant gap on Arsenal, Rooney doesn’t seem intent on doing it again.<\/p>\n
Asked why he thought City would drop points in the run-in, Rooney said: “That’s just what I think. Listen, Arsenal were great, they were top of the league for most of the season.”<\/p>\n
“I think Arsenal have a way of playing that people don’t pay attention to. But I think City have more games and are more crowded, but Arsenal have been there all season. I think this is their year.”<\/p>\n
