Sir Alex Ferguson was taken to hospital before Manchester United’s win over Liverpool at Old Trafford and Red Devils manager Michael Carrick spoke out about the news.<\/h2>\n

Michael Carrick admitted he was “hugely affected” by news of Sir Alex Ferguson’s health scare ahead of Manchester United’s win over Liverpool. Red Devils icon Fergie was taken to hospital after feeling unwell at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n
He was quickly removed from the stadium by ambulance after meeting fans and others at the stadium. It is understood that the move is purely precautionary and Fergie is feeling much better and is doing well.<\/p>\n
United’s victory over their biggest rivals will have significantly improved his mood. Carrick’s side took a 2-0 lead at half-time thanks to strikes from Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesco.<\/p>\n
However, Liverpool hit back early in the second period through Dominik Szoboszlai and Kodi Gakpo. Koby Mainu’s scream from the edge of the box sealed United’s point and qualification for next season’s Champions League.<\/p>\n

After the game, Carrick said: “I don’t know the latest at the moment. I heard about it before the game. All I can say is I was very affected by it. We just hope he’s okay.”<\/p>\n
“I don’t know the latest, but we hope he’s feeling better, we wish him the best and we’re definitely thinking of him. And I hope the results will listen to him and give him a good boost.”<\/p>\n
The result put United six points clear of Liverpool, cementing their place in third place in the Premier League and tightening the reins on Carrick’s full-time job.<\/p>\n

There is no doubt that Mainu, the winner of the match, will take over the reins as interim manager next season. “He (Carrick) played a big role,” he said. “Confidence not only in me but in all the players. We want to follow him, fight for him and die on the pitch. That’s what we showed today.<\/p>\n
“It’s a credit to the players and the coach that we were able to turn things around like we have so far. We’re just looking forward, but we still need to finish the season on a strong note. That’s not enough. We just want to keep winning and keep winning.”<\/p>\n
