Liverpool star Mohamed Salah couldn’t help but smile after being shown a heartwarming video message from manager Jurgen Klopp. During an interview with Steven Gerrard on TNT Sports, the 33-year-old was shown footage of his former boss ahead of his impending departure, and one particular comment left him with stitches.<\/p>\n
Klopp said: “Two of my legends sitting together, Stevie, you know how much I love you. But Mo, it was a real pleasure working with you and it was just as enjoyable, not every minute but most of the time.”<\/p>\n
This very line drew laughs from both Salah and Gerrard, and the Egyptian and German managers famously clashed several times during their tenures. But the two still share a close bond, as evidenced by the forward’s reaction.<\/p>\n
Klopp continued: “You remember when we got together I said, ‘Let’s create a special story so that in 10 or 15 years when we meet and look back, you can’t help but smile.’ I smile that smile when I remember the time we spent together.”<\/p>\n

“I’m so happy and grateful to have been a part of this whole journey for a while. Good luck with what’s next. We still have a few great years ahead, so I hope you’ll have some fun together, have fun, and see you soon.”<\/p>\n
As soon as the video ended, Salah let out a chuckle before sharing his feelings about the German tactician.<\/p>\n

Salah and Jurgen Klopp had a strong relationship<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Asked how he gets the best out of his players, Salah replied: “Managing players is very difficult. As he gained experience over the years, he realized it wasn’t easy. Even in a team full of stars, he was able to manage a dressing room and get everyone up and doing their job.”<\/p>\n
“Maybe he was also lucky that we all wanted to work. He didn’t have to force anyone to work because we really wanted to be successful and achieve big things.”<\/p>\n

Klopp certainly got a great performance from Salah as two strong characters, but the two clashed. Perhaps that’s what the former Liverpool manager was hinting at in his message.<\/p>\n
A memorable exchange between the two occurred when Salah was brought on as a substitute in an away game to West Ham, but refused to shake Klopp’s hand before entering the pitch.<\/p>\n
Salah is now ready to follow Klopp in leaving Liverpool as the club’s icon, but his farewell campaign almost ended in disaster due to injury.<\/p>\n
Last weekend, the winger collapsed clutching the sole of his foot and with only a few games left in the season, many feared the worst that he would never feature again.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, a statement from the club and Arne Slott subsequently confirmed that he would be wearing a Liverpool shirt again.<\/p>\n

When asked on Friday, Slott said, “When he gets injured, he always works incredibly hard to get back as quickly as possible. Usually he comes back sooner than other players. He’s had a minor injury, so we expect and need him back at the end of the season, but he won’t be back Sunday.”<\/p>\n
Salah was also asked if Gerrard would definitely play in the final game of the season against Brentford, insisting: “He should come back a little bit before then.” He also posted photos of himself training on Instagram.<\/p>\n
Although it seems likely that he will return before the end of the season, Salah will no doubt miss the trip to Old Trafford for the showdown with Manchester United, which will certainly be a blow given his incredible goalscoring record at the home of Liverpool’s fiercest rivals.<\/p>\n
