Burnley have been relegated to the Championship after just one season in the Premier League and have announced that a new manager will be in charge of the club next season.<\/h2>\n

Burnley have announced that manager Scott Parker has resigned from the club following their relegation to the Championship.<\/p>\n
A statement from the Clarets on Thursday said: “Scott Parker has resigned as head coach of Burnley Football Club by mutual consent.<\/p>\n
“Following confirmation of the club’s relegation from the Premier League last week, Parker and the board held discussions and mutually agreed that his stay at Turf Moor has come to an end.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring his tenure at Turf Moor, Parker led the Clarets to a record-breaking season in 2024-25, securing Burnley promotion from the Championship to the Premier League with an incredible 31 games unbeaten and 30 clean sheets.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe club would like to put on record its sincere thanks to Scott for his professionalism, dedication and contribution. He leaves with great respect and gratitude to everyone associated with Burnley Football Club.\u201d<\/p>\n

“Mike Jackson will take charge on an interim basis for the Clarets’ remaining four Premier League games, starting with Friday’s away game against Leeds United, with support from existing backroom staff. The process to appoint a new permanent head coach for the 2026\/27 season has begun.”<\/p>\n
Parker, 45, joined Burnley in 2024 following the departure of Vincent Kompany and led Burnley to Premier League qualification in his first season in charge. The Clarets piled up 100 points, conceding a record 16 goals, and moved into second place in the Championship behind eventual title winners Leeds United.<\/p>\n
However, that form is not reflected in the Premier League. Burnley sit in second bottom of the table with just 20 points from 34 games. They lost by a narrow margin to Manchester City, confirming their relegation to the second division.<\/p>\n

The Lancashire side still have four games left this season, starting with Friday night’s game against Leeds at Elland Road. They then face Aston Villa, Arsenal and Wolves before turning their attention to the Championship. Former Liverpool star Steven Gerrard is already rumored to be linked with the role.<\/p>\n
In the meantime, Parker will focus on his next management role. The former England player began his coaching career at Fulham, where he helped them to promotion in the play-offs.<\/p>\n
However, they once again struggled, with Parker being sacked after being relegated. He was then appointed manager of Bournemouth in June 2021 and helped the Cherries gain promotion, before spending a similar period on the south coast before being ultimately sacked following a 90-point loss to Liverpool.<\/p>\n
Parker then had a short spell with Club Brugge in Belgium, but lasted just 12 games and won just two games.<\/p>\n
