Manchester United are expected to announce a new contract for Koby Mainu within the next 48 hours. Mainu pledged his future to the English giants and quadrupled his salary.<\/p>\n

The England midfielder has been in talks with club leaders for the past three months. And Mainu has now put pen to paper on a contract worth \u00a3120,000-a-week that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2031.<\/p>\n

United are expected to confirm the news by the end of this week. The deal marks a remarkable turnaround in fortunes for Mainu, who turned 21 earlier this month.<\/p>\n

Just a few months ago, Mainu was set to leave United and join Napoli on a six-month loan deal until the end of the season. Mainu was fed up with life at Old Trafford as former manager Reuben Amorim refused to appoint him.<\/p>\n

Mainu feared that Amorim’s treatment of him could end his chances of being selected for England’s World Cup squad. But when Amorim was sacked and replaced on an interim basis by Michael Carrick, Mainu decided to stay at United.<\/p>\n

Carrick brought back Maynou, who played an influential role in United’s rise to third place in the table. Carrick is reluctant to get involved in contract negotiations with players, but hopes Mainu will be rewarded with a new deal.<\/p>\n

Carrick is understood to have spoken to club leaders to outline Maynou’s long-term value. And Carrick supported the club’s decision to give Mainu a significant increase in salary to reflect his importance to the team now and in the future.<\/p>\n

Mainoo regained his place in the England squad last month and is increasingly confident of getting on a plane to the World Cup in North America in June.<\/p>\n
