Newcastle had hoped signing Yoan Wissa would offset the departure of Alexander Isak, but the former Brentford star isn’t exactly ready to shine in the black and white shirt.<\/h2>\n

Newcastle are actively considering selling Ioan Wissa less than a year after paying \u00a355m to sign him from Brentford. Wissa, 29, arrived at St James’ Park on transfer deadline day in September and became part of Newcastle’s plans alongside fellow big-money singer Nick Waltemaid to replace star striker Alexander Isak.<\/p>\n
Issac’s transfer story received more attention, but Wissa left pre-season training camp early and threatened to go on strike at Brentford. The Democratic Republic of Congo international eventually made a move to Newcastle, who handed him his famous No. 9 shirt, but so far things haven’t worked out well for either side.<\/p>\n
Wissa, who was injured until December, scored just three goals for Newcastle, a far cry from the 20 he scored in his final season at Brentford. The 29-year-old is behind both Woltemade and William Osla in the pecking order under manager Eddie Howe, having started just one of the last 16 games.<\/p>\n
The Athletic reports that Wissa wants to stay at Newcastle, but the club’s leaders are prepared to cut their losses. In the event of a sale, the sale clause means that 25% of the commission will be paid to Brentford.<\/p>\n

Wissa will be hoping to change Newcastle’s stance over the final four games of the season, with Howe’s side languishing in 14th place in the Premier League table. The striker turned down the chance to play for his country at the African Cup of Nations earlier this season to prioritize getting fit for the second half of the season.<\/p>\n
However, Wissa continued to struggle, with his manager recently saying: “The most difficult thing for Yoan is getting him back to health. There was a big feeling in his heart to rush back and show everyone how great he is, but we weren’t able to train him in the normal way.”<\/p>\n
“It was very stop-start and we didn’t get to see how good he was. He’ll probably have some training this week. There’s going to be a lot of things to come. I think the preseason will really show him how good he is.”<\/p>\n
