Mohamed Salah was forced off with a muscle problem during Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday, but Virgil van Dijk hoped his team-mate would play again before leaving.<\/h2>\n

Virgil van Dijk says he will “do everything” to see Mohamed Salah wear a Liverpool shirt one last time before he leaves at the end of the season.<\/p>\n
Salah, who is the club’s third all-time top scorer with 257 goals, made his 440th appearance for Liverpool as Crystal Palace lost 3-1 at Anfield on Saturday. However, the Egyptian star was sent off shortly before the end due to a muscular problem.<\/p>\n
Reds head coach Arne Slott confirmed after the match that Salah would undergo tests to determine the full extent of the injury. The setback raises the worrying possibility that the number 11 shirt may already have played his final game for the Reds, with just four games left in the season.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, Egypt’s technical director Ibrahim Hassan suggested the 33-year-old could be ruled out for the next four weeks, but Van Dijk insisted he would work harder than ever to see if his long-term team-mate is worthy of selection again at the club he has served admirably since 2017.<\/p>\n

“Will we see him again this season? I hope so,” the Liverpool captain said, as reported by the Liverpool Echo. “A medical evaluation will be carried out and that will decide what the matter will be. I know he is doing everything he can to get back on the pitch as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you get injured at this stage of the season, especially in the situation he’s in, he only has two home games left… all the different emotions that go through your head when you finish the game.<\/p>\n
“The reality is he has to get tested and get tested. I hope it won’t last long, but we don’t know at this point. He might come back next week, he might not. We just don’t know.”<\/p>\n

“Regardless, he will be sent off. I don’t think it will happen at the moment, but we shouldn’t think too far ahead. Knowing Mo, he will recover quickly and we have the right people around us so we’ll see.”<\/p>\n
The Reds moved up to fourth place with the victory over Palace and will take on third-placed Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon. They will then host Chelsea, travel to Aston Villa and then face Brentford on the final day of the Premier League.<\/p>\n
