Ruben Amorim has been out of a job since being sacked by Manchester United, but the former Premier League star believes there is one role in the Premier League that suits him best.<\/h2>\n

Former Crystal Palace midfielder Jason Puncheon believes former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is the best man to replace Oliver Glasner. Puncheon, who is set to join Jonjo Shelvey at the Dubai-based Arabian Falcons, has hinted at the Portuguese manager’s success at Selhurst Park despite his track record at United.<\/p>\n
Amorim was sacked by the Red Devils at the start of the year after publicly criticizing the club’s hierarchy shortly after a draw with Leeds United at Elland Road. One of the most frequent criticisms the former Sporting manager received was his reluctance to change from his preferred 3-4-3 formation.<\/p>\n
However, manager Glasner, who will leave Palace at the end of this season, currently deploys the Eagles in a 3-4-3 formation, winning the FA Cup and guiding the Eagles to the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League. Puncheon believes the Portuguese manager would be a perfect fit in south London if selected ahead of other candidates including Andoni Iraola and former Tottenham manager Thomas Frank.<\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to Mirror Football, Puncheon said: \u201cI think it\u2019s a good fit, I\u2019ve said this to people off the record before.<\/p>\n
“The reason is that he went to Sporting and built a team out of nowhere, rebuilt himself and did well. I think when he went to Manchester United there was a different pressure.”<\/p>\n

“We are trying to change the team to a 3-4-3. That takes time. At Manchester United he doesn’t have time. At Crystal Palace, I think he will have time.”<\/p>\n
“OK, he’s going to come out of a bit of a downward spiral from Manchester United, as they say, but it’s still Ruben Amorim. He’s had success in Lisbon and he’s coached at Manchester United, so he has credibility.”<\/p>\n

The middle of the season was a tough period for Palace and Glasner. The Eagles manager was furious that the club let Marc Gehi go without bringing in a replacement.<\/p>\n
This period also coincided with Palace’s FA Cup defense being shockingly ended by non-league side Macclesfield, resulting in a run of ten games without a win. Glasner has managed to steady the ship and they are now just five points behind eighth-placed Chelsea.<\/p>\n

The Eagles have a chance to win the Europa Conference League as well, but will face Shakhtar Donetsk in the last four. If Palace win this competition, they will qualify for next season’s Europa League. While this is great for the club and for Glasner, Puncheon does not believe it will be a convincing move to remain in south London.<\/p>\n
Puncheon added: “Look, I think the reality is, if he makes a decision, obviously there are some issues that we don’t know about. And I think when a manager makes that decision, his mind is very clear.”<\/p>\nContent cannot be displayed without consent<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
“I don’t think a U-turn is possible, but what I can say about Oli Glasner is that I’m grateful to all the Crystal Palace fans because he gave us memories that will last forever.<\/p>\n
“He showed us things we didn’t see. Nobody thought we’d get to see a European night at Crystal Palace now. And that’s what we saw. It’s special, special for us.”<\/p>\n
