A Chelsea player reportedly called manager Liam Rosenior his “supply teacher” before he was sacked on Wednesday. The former Strasbourg manager lost his job after Tuesday’s 3-0 defeat away to Brighton.<\/p>\n
The Blues failed to score, making it their fifth consecutive defeat in the Premier League, their worst result in the top flight in 114 years. Coach Rosenior was fired after his senior players became enraged by his criticism after the game.<\/p>\n
And the 41-year-old was not well-respected by some players in the Chelsea dressing room. BBC Sport claims there was almost weekly footage of players appearing to disrespect Rosenior’s inexperienced backroom staff.<\/p>\n

One example of this was the recent video that showed Wesley Fofana ignoring his assistant James Walker after Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat to Manchester United. And one player is said to have given him the nickname “supply teacher.”<\/p>\n

It is claimed that Rosenior began to lose authority as he sought to further implement his own ideas. The former right-back initially relied on former Blues manager Enzo Maresca’s blueprint for his first six weeks in charge, with limited time on the training pitch.<\/p>\n
Key tactical decisions were also reportedly scrutinized. A source close to Paris Saint-Germain told the BBC he felt Rosenior’s approach in the two tied games was too open and allowed the French champions to take advantage of Chelsea and win 8-2 on aggregate.<\/p>\n

However, Rosenior’s position at Stamford Bridge is reportedly not generally negative.<\/p>\n
Most players consider the former Derby County and Hull City head coach to be a thoroughly decent guy, and one source says he was popular with the English members of the squad.<\/p>\n
Callum MacFarlane will take over the reins of Chelsea until the end of the season while the club searches for a new head coach.<\/p>\n
The west London side are thought to be taking their time in naming a replacement, with Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola being named as one of the candidates to replace Rosenior.<\/p>\n
Whoever takes over could be in charge of a team that has no European football next season. The Blues currently sit eighth in the Premier League and may need to win this season’s FA Cup to qualify for Europe.<\/p>\n
Chelsea will face Leeds United in the semi-final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday (3pm CET).<\/p>\n
