Chelsea’s heavyweight loss to Brighton on Tuesday night has put manager Liam Rosenior under intense scrutiny, and Chelsea’s leaders are expected to discuss their future course of action. With the 3-0 loss, the Blues, who were unable to find the back of the net, suffered their fifth consecutive loss.<\/p>\n
The west London side’s sporting leaders are assessing the situation at the club following the disastrous defeat to Brighton, but it is unclear whether Rossenyoglu will still be in charge when Chelsea play Leeds in the FA Cup this weekend. Up until this point, Rosenior had been favored, but there is a perception that football is all about results.<\/p>\n
For now, Rosenior will continue to lead the team, but the situation could change in the future. The Blues currently sit seventh in the Premier League and their chances of qualifying for European football are now in doubt.<\/p>\n
Rosenior, who had previously supported Chelsea’s players during their poor run of form, joined the team ahead of their performance against Brighton. The former Strasbourg manager suggested that too few players put in the necessary effort against the Seagulls.<\/p>\n
Rosenior said it was his worst defeat while managing the Blues. \u201cMuch more,\u201d he said. “Absolutely. That was unacceptable in every aspect of the game and in the attitude.<\/p>\n

“It was unacceptable on every level. I continue to be there to protect our players. Tonight was inexcusable. Something needs to change dramatically now.”<\/p>\n
“We need to look in the mirror. I need to look in the mirror too. But I can’t keep coming out here and defending some of the things we’re seeing.<\/p>\n
“Manchester United, we didn’t really get the result, but we felt we had turned a corner. But there was a general lack of attitude, a lack of spirit. There was a lack of determination from three or four of our starting XI. We can’t come close to this club. I can’t go out there and lie. I’ll tell you the truth. That was an unacceptable performance on every level.”<\/p>\n

Rosenior was the target of explicit chants from Chelsea supporters at the Amex Stadium who expressed their displeasure with the club’s current direction. This is the first time in 29 years that the Blues have gone without a clean sheet in the Premier League, and the first time since 1912 that they have lost five consecutive league games without scoring.<\/p>\n
Speaking after the match, former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood suggested Rosenior would not survive the result against Brighton. \u201cIt was a team with a lot of individuals playing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
“There was no spirit, no character. They were last seen heading towards the Chelsea fans, half of whom had left the stadium 20 minutes earlier.”<\/p>\n
“It’s not just your ability, it’s your desire to wear that shirt. It embarrassed the room Brighton had. Liam Rosenior changed that at half-time, but he has to realize that sooner.”<\/p>\n
“Hinshelwood is an academy player who plays in every position. Full-back, outstanding. Midfield, outstanding. Tonight he was No. 10. Three goals is the lowest for Brighton.”<\/p>\n
“I hate to say it, but there are demonstrations and flags being raised against Bruko. Liam Rosenior will not survive this situation. Unfortunately for him, it will not be the case. It is a really tough job for any manager to survive in this environment. Chelsea is a development club.”<\/p>\n
