Manchester United have yet to announce who their next permanent manager will be, but some fans are hoping they can convince Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique to do so.<\/h2>\n

Luis Enrique has dropped his biggest hint yet that he will not join Manchester United. Enrique, 55, is rumored to be close to becoming available at Old Trafford as he approaches the final year of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain.<\/p>\n
Michael Carrick will remain in charge until the end of this season and while the former United midfielder has done a fantastic job, there is no confirmation he will take the job permanently. In a saturated market for managers, Enrique’s pedigree from his time at Barcelona and PSG (he won the Champions League with both clubs) makes him an outstanding option.<\/p>\n
But it was always unlikely that United would sign him from Paris and now those hopes have been dealt a new blow. Enrique admitted in a press conference on Wednesday that he and PSG sporting director Luis Campos have started making plans for the summer.<\/p>\n
When asked about the summer transfer window, Enrique said: “There will be small adjustments, just like last year.” “We’re not going to sign many players.”<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the Spaniard is reportedly in talks with PSG to sign a new contract that will keep him at the Parc des Princes until 2030. Enrique is still aiming to win the Champions League this season and will need to beat Bayern Munich in the semi-finals.<\/p>\n
United, meanwhile, have not played in Europe’s elite competition since 2023, but Carrick has them on track to qualify in the canter. Two wins in their final six games would guarantee Champions League football next season and go a long way in convincing Old Trafford bosses to let Carrick stay.<\/p>\n
The 44-year-old, who replaced Ruben Amorim, has remained tight-lipped about his future but hinted after Saturday’s important 1-0 win over Chelsea that he would like to stay. “I love being here,” Carrick told TNT Sports.<\/p>\n

“I understand the situation, but it’s out of my control. I want to be a part of a night like this, I want to be part of something special, I want to make the team. There’s no deadline (for a decision) yet.”<\/p>\n
Former teammate Owen Hargreaves insisted it was “absolutely ridiculous” that Carrick, who has made a remarkable turnaround since Amorim lost his job in January, should not get the job permanently. “Karas understands the players and that’s probably why he’s here,” Hargreaves explained after the game.<\/p>\n
“He understands the pressure of playing for this football club. He puts the players in the right positions that they need to play to be successful and they’re good in every capacity. So it would be completely foolish to give him money and then not give it to him at a time when he probably wasn’t expecting it.”<\/p>\n
“I think today cemented that. If they didn’t win today and qualify for the Champions League, we might have a discussion and bring in a more experienced player. If today ends and he finishes third, I don’t understand why we couldn’t give it to him. It would make no sense at all.”<\/p>\n
