G\u00fcz\u00fc Moln\u00e1r, professor of sport and exercise sociology at the University of Worcester, said: “This should have been a great ending for Orb\u00e1n and his government. He has worked hard to reach the finals in Budapest and Hungary.”<\/p>\n
If the Magyars qualify for the Champions League final, Molnar said it would be “a sign of a solid change of regime”.<\/p>\n
Change is likely to occur in the future, and sports organizations will need to develop relationships with the new government.<\/p>\n
Mr Magyar denied opposition claims that funding for sport would be cut. Still, his Tisza party’s election platform signaled a change in emphasis. He criticized public money being used to build “overly expensive” stadiums and run prestigious projects while “school and community sports activities are withering away.”<\/p>\n
