BERLIN (AP) — Bayern Munich won the club’s 13th Bundesliga title in 14 years on Sunday after a record-breaking season that could still improve.

The Bundesliga is just the first match of a potential treble, with Bayern facing Bayer Leverkusen in the German Cup semi-final on Wednesday, before facing defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-final.

The Bundesliga is seen as the lowest goal for the season within the club, and this will be Bayern’s record-extending 35th German championship. With the exception of the first match between the regional champions in 1932, decided by a knockout tournament, all other matches took place after the creation of the Bundesliga in 1963.

Bayern have always been keen to assert their domestic dominance. A Leverkusen victory in 2024 is an outlier that will propel Bayern to back-to-back titles, and could be the start of an even longer campaign.

Bayern bounced back from the trauma of 2012, when they lost to Chelsea in the Champions League final in Munich and Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga and German Cup finals, winning the Champions League, Bundesliga and German Cup treble the following season under coach Jupp Heynckes.

This season’s Bundesliga is just the first step for Bayern in their quest for another treble. Let’s take a closer look at how we won.

the goal

bayern broke his own league scoring record He scored five goals against St. Pauli last weekend, taking his total to 105 for the season. The previous record was 101 goals scored by Bayern’s 1971-72 team, which featured Franz Beckenbauer and Gerd Müller.

England forward Harry Kane was also among the scorers. The title was decided with a 4-2 win over Stuttgart. On Sunday, he will increase his record to 109 goals. And there are still four rounds left.

Kane took his total for the club to 50 goals this season in the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid. I’m 51 years old now. So far, he has played in 27 Bundesliga games and scored 32 goals.

New signing Luis Diaz scored 15 goals and Michael Olise scored 12, but Bayern’s goals came from everyone in the team, with Leon Goretzka scoring his record-breaking 102nd goal against St. Pauli.

Including the win against Stuttgart, Bayern have scored four or more goals in 14 league games since the opening day, when they beat Leipzig 6-0.

rival

Bayern have no rivals who can challenge their dominance again. Borussia Dortmund came closest this season, but it was clear for a long time that they would not be able to beat Bayern. Ended the concept of a contest They won 3-2 against Dortmund at the end of February.

“We have an 11-point advantage and we’re not going to give it up,” Joshua Kimmich said at the time.

Dortmund lost their second straight game on Sunday, paving the way for Bayern to win the title.

None of Stuttgart, Leipzig or Leverkusen could even catch up with Dortmund.

company

he was like that Far from my first choiceBayern manager Vincent Kompany has proved an exciting appointment for a team that has been underperforming under Thomas Tuchel.

In his second year at Bayern, Kompany has not only steadied the ship by promoting young players like Lennart Karl, who has the potential to become a star, while carefully rotating the squad to keep all players involved and happy while minimizing the chance of injury.

Kane aims to break Robert Lewandowski’s Bundesliga season record is 41 goals. However, Kompany decided to manage his star forward’s minutes and rest him for the important games in the Champions League and German Cup.

The company is also highly rated for: speak out against racism Jose Mourinho accused Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior of inciting abuse towards him. welcomed the appointment Last week, Marie-Louise Eta was appointed as the Bundesliga’s first female manager.

Kompany has brought harmony to Bayern, previously known as FC Hollywood, after garnering tabloid headlines.
