AFC Bournemouth are set to appoint Marco Rose as Andoni Iraola’s replacement. The club announced this week that the Spaniard will leave the south coast at the end of 2025\/26.<\/p>\n
And with just six games left, it looks as if the Cherries already have his successor in place. Sky Sports reports that an agreement has been reached to appoint Rose as the next head coach at the Vitality Stadium.<\/p>\n
Following Iraola’s announcement, Rose quickly became the frontrunner to replace him, with Bournemouth set to bring in the former RB Leipzig manager for the new season. No official announcement is expected anytime soon, but the club are reportedly currently working on completing paperwork and obtaining a work visa for the 49-year-old.<\/p>\n

After enjoying a respectable playing career with the likes of VfB Leipzig, Hannover 96 and Mainz, Rose moved into the world of football management in 2012 with Lokomotiv Leipzig.<\/p>\n
Although he only stayed with the club for one year, he left the managerial position for four years and returned in 2017 to join RB Salzburg.<\/p>\n
His two years in Austria earned him a role at Borussia M\u00f6nchengladbach, where he spent a further two years before moving to Borussia Dortmund.<\/p>\n
Rose then moved to RB Leipzig in 2022, where he spent three years, before being released by the club in March 2025 due to poor performance in domestic and European competitions.<\/p>\n

Rose is a veteran coach with an astonishing winning percentage of 57.59 and has played in 415 games. In terms of his playing style, Bournemouth fans can expect Iraola to take a similar approach with an intense front-foot game.<\/p>\n
This comes after Bournemouth announced in a statement on Tuesday that Iraola would be leaving the club next month. It reads: “AFC Bournemouth can confirm that head coach Andoni Iraola will leave the club at the end of the 2025\/26 season, bringing an end to a successful three-year spell on the south coast.”<\/p>\n
\u201cSince his appointment, the club has continued to compete in the Premier League, particularly in the 2024-25 season, where we achieved a record total of 56 points, resulting in a ninth-place finish, the highest for either team.<\/p>\n
“Iraola played a pivotal role in establishing the club’s identity in the Premier League, becoming widely recognized for his progressive style of play and commitment to the development of both up-and-coming and established talent.”<\/p>\n
The club also announced that fitness coach Pablo de la Torre will be retiring at the end of this season. His job is not done yet, but Iraola will now aim to lead the Cherries to a strong showing in the Premier League with six games remaining.<\/p>\n
They currently sit 11th in the Premier League table but have a tough trip to St James’ Park to face Newcastle United on Saturday. The midweek fixture against Leeds United will then take place on Wednesday 22nd April.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Bournemouth’s May schedule will see them face Crystal Palace, Fulham, Manchester City and Nottingham Forest, but a late push into Europe is still on the cards.<\/p>\n
