Michael Carrick has made a great impact at Manchester United since replacing Ruben Amorim, but the former midfielder has been told to tweak his approach between now and the end of the season.<\/h2>\n

Manager Michael Carrick has been told to use Sir Alex Ferguson’s infamous hair dryer treatment to avoid ruining Manchester United’s season. The former Red Devils star made a huge impact at Old Trafford from the time he took over until the end of the season.<\/p>\n
Carrick won seven of 11 games, leading his team to a top-four finish. He lost just his second game last weekend as United lost 2-1 to Leeds at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n
And while United remain in a strong position in the race for Champions League qualification, former United star Lee Sharp says Carrick may need to be a little tougher on his team to avoid a stumble turning into a more serious failure.<\/p>\n
“Michael Carrick and Sir Alex Ferguson are polar opposites,” Sharp told soccer betting site BetRight. \u201cCarrick seems very calm and the players were already talking about his approach when he came in.<\/p>\n

“Since joining the club, he has worked alongside them and identified their strengths. He is a first-class player and a man, and that will continue throughout his managerial career.”<\/p>\n
“Sir Alex Ferguson was completely different, he ruled with fear. He came in and scared everyone to death and had an attacking team.<\/p>\n
“The backbone of his team was unparalleled, but he was better than anyone else and that’s what led to the team’s success. You can’t dispute Sir Alex’s track record as a manager.”<\/p>\n
“Ideally, Carrick should pick up a bit of aggression from Sir Alex and get players to kick up the backside from time to time. That’s what they needed during and after the Leeds game.”<\/p>\n

Of course, Carrick is no stranger to Ferguson’s hair dryer treatment. The midfielder played seven seasons under the legendary former United manager and made 319 appearances as Scotland manager.<\/p>\n
United will continue their bid to qualify for the Champions League this weekend under Carrick. The Red Devils face Chelsea on Saturday night.<\/p>\n
United are currently three points behind Liverpool in the final Champions League standings with six games left in the season.<\/p>\n
If that happens, club leaders may be forced to make difficult decisions regarding the role of manager. Carrick was originally appointed until the end of the season, but the club’s long-term goals now appear out of reach.<\/p>\n
