As Chelsea boss Rosenior continues his journey into football management, he credits some of the greatest players and people he believes have had a “real impact” on the sport.<\/div>\n
Rosenoir joined West Londoners in January, replacing Enzo Maresca, who previously managed Ligue 1 side Strasbourg and Championship side Hull City.<\/div>\n
His next role will be to lead his side in this Saturday’s Premier League clash against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, with qualification for the UEFA Champions League on the line. The game will be broadcast live on TNT Sports and HBO Max.<\/div>\n
Rosenior, who previously said he had a tactical acumen from the age of 11, said his coaching approach had been shaped every step of his journey.<\/div>\n

\u201cI think I just enjoyed watching football,\u201d he says of his youthful enthusiasm for future coaching and management roles.<\/p>\n

“I loved the game, I loved watching different teams, different styles. As a player, it was the same.”<\/p>\n

“Every manager I’ve worked with has seen good and bad things about the team, the training sessions and the way we approach tactically.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the same time, when you look at the other coaches from afar, you can see that I really appreciate their work.<\/p>\n

“You just take things and add them to the way you work and the way you play football.<\/p>\n

“I think there were big influences in football: Jose Mourinho, Sir Alex Ferguson, Pep Guardiola.”<\/p>\n

Beyond Premier League legends, Rosenior looks to continental names for inspiration.<\/p>\n

“Arrigo Sacchi changed football with his AC Milan team (which won the European Cup in 1989 and 1990).<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the coaches that I really appreciate are the ones that had a real impact on the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

In terms of impact on the pitch, one of Chelsea’s greatest players has risen to the top of the game with the support of his manager after a breakthrough season in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

Rosenior said Brazilian winger Estevao could do “whatever he wants” in the game given his quality as a player.<\/div>\n

The 18-year-old, who joined from Palmeiras for \u00a329 million last summer, has scored eight goals and provided three assists in all competitions for Chelsea.<\/p>\n

Estevao recently returned from injury and will be hoping to build on his performance in the remaining games of the season, starting with the game against United.<\/p>\n

Asked what Estevao’s strengths are, Rosenoir said: “Just his fearlessness.<\/p>\n

“His technique, his ability to fight again one-on-one and two-on-one sometimes. He’s an outstanding player. He’s been practicing very hard and he wants to learn.”<\/p>\n

Impressing early on, Estevao won the hearts of Stamford Bridge fans with his dramatic winning goal against Liverpool.<\/div>\n
He also scored in the UEFA Champions League victory over Barcelona and was an integral part of his team’s progress to the FA Cup semi-finals.<\/div>\n

Rosenior also highlighted the player’s off-field personality and how that will help him develop on the pitch.<\/p>\n

“He is very humble and wants to improve,” he added.<\/p>\n

“He’s always smiling and I love that because he really enjoys football. And he also has a great family who raised him in a great way.”<\/p>\n

\u201cSo if you have that foundation, you can continue to do whatever you want to do in your career.<\/p>\n

“He can be and do whatever he wants.”<\/p>\n

Asked about the heights the player could ultimately reach, including a possible Ballon d’Or, Rosenior sought to temper those specific expectations.<\/p>\n

“I don’t like to talk about personal accolades. I want him to focus on the now and continue to grow.<\/p>\n

“But like I said, with his temperament and ability, with a little bit of luck and effort, he can do anything he wants.”<\/p>\n

Estavao has been one of the players Chelsea have targeted in recent years, reducing the average age of the squad to the youngest in the division. <\/p>\n

The Brazilian could be part of a bright future for the club, but Rosenior said he was focused on the present as he looks to help the team overcome recent disappointing results.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe always want everyone involved with the club to be excited about the future,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut to give them that excitement, we need to give them a good result and a good performance in this moment, and that’s what we’re focusing on right now.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe future will come, but all we have to do is focus on our performance and results now and carry that excitement into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chelsea are sixth in the Premier League table, four points adrift of fifth place, which could qualify for the Champions League, and seven points behind third-placed Man United. <\/p>\n

The Blues have won only their last seven league games and lost four of their last five, and Rosenior is hoping to turn the club’s fortunes around with six games remaining this season.<\/p>\n

Asked if a win would give him a good result, Rosenoir said: “I hope so.” \u201cBut we can\u2019t look too far ahead.<\/p>\n

\u201cConcentrate on each game. The next game for us is a home game against Manchester United.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we can perform really well there and get a result, then we will look to the (next league game) against Brighton and move on from there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chesley fans are expected to stage a protest before the match to express their dissatisfaction with the club’s policies under the current owners, but Rosenior expects supporters to give their full support once they gather inside Stamford Bridge.<\/div>\n

“We have to earn it with our performance on the pitch,” he said. “We need to give the fans something to root for, we need to give them something to chase. Hopefully we can do that on Saturday.”<\/p>\n
