B<\/span>Mexico City’s World Cup venue, Anorte Stadium, hosted its second match since reopening. The first was a friendly match between the Mexican and Portuguese national teams on March 28, 2026, as part of the refurbished presentation. Now, on April 11th, the stadium will reopen its doors for a local match between Club Am\u00e9rica and Cruz Azul at 11:05 pm ET.<\/p>\nHow was the match?<\/h2>\n
The Americans took the lead with a header from Patricio \u201cPato\u201d Salas off an assist from Alejandro Zendejas, and the team started the game in control. However, just before half-time, Cruz Azul’s Omar Campos came into the box and scored the equalizer, and the score remained level at half-time.<\/p>\n
From there, the duel remained open, with neither team finding their chances throughout the match without completely gaining the upper hand.<\/p>\n
And just when the night seemed to be progressing normally, the question arose in the conversation about stadiums: Is Banorte Stadium really ready to host a halftime show?<\/p>\n
Just yesterday, it was announced that there would be a halftime show by Venezuelan artist Lasso, and anticipation was high from that moment. But what appeared to be part of an evening planned to coincide with the venue’s reopening ended up leaving a different impression as an acoustic failure interrupted the show’s progress.<\/p>\n
The moment was noticed in the stands, where boos began to echo, reflecting the crowd’s frustration with what appeared to be a renovated stadium.<\/p>\n
Because, beyond the draw on the pitch, what happened off the field began to raise questions about the stadium’s ability to function in this new phase and whether it would be fully ready for the start of the World Cup on June 11.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
