David de Gea has praised the “incredible” work his former Manchester United colleague and interim head coach Michael Carrick is doing at Old Trafford. United have lost just one game since Carrick took over in January and are currently in a good position to secure stability in European football in third place.<\/p>\n
The Spanish shot-stopper returned to England on Thursday night as Fiorentina faced Crystal Palace in the Conference League quarter-finals at Selhurst Park. The Italian team, who lost 3-0, will face a big test in the rematch in Florence.<\/p>\n
After the match, De Gea, who played alongside Carrick from 2011 to 2017, was asked about the 44-year-old’s return to United in an interview with TNT Sports. “He’s performing unbelievably,” the goalkeeper said.<\/p>\n

“He’s a great guy. It’s easy to talk to him because he knows how the players feel. He’s doing a great job and United are winning a lot of games at the moment and playing well.”<\/p>\n
\u201cHopefully we can qualify for the Champions League, continue to develop and see United fighting for trophies at a high level once again.\u201d<\/p>\n
Carrick remains the favorite to become Old Trafford’s permanent manager, with winger Amad praising the former midfielder as “suitable” for the job, hinting at similar sentiments across the dressing room.<\/p>\n

The two spent seven years together at Manchester United.<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
“Of course, we are not the ones who decide his future as a player, but he is very good and does a lot for the team,” Amado said.<\/p>\n
“He has a lot of experience, he knows the club well and he has the DNA. We think he is the right person.<\/p>\n

“He knows the club very well, he has played for the club and he has great experience in managing the club. Sometimes this kind of manager can lead the club to where it is.”<\/p>\n
United return to Premier League action on Monday after the March international break, with Carrick’s side hosting Leeds United at Old Trafford, with kick-off scheduled for 8pm.<\/p>\n
