Enzo Fernandes will remain on the sidelines when Chelsea face Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday, but Liam Rosenior will stick to his suspension decision and remain on the sidelines.<\/h2>\n

Liam Rosenior says there are still “some obstacles” to overcome along with Enzo Fernandes before he can rehabilitate into the Chelsea squad. Fernandes will miss Chelsea’s Premier League game against Manchester City this weekend as punishment for his comments during the international break.<\/p>\n
The Blues captain was left out of the squad that beat Port Vale 7-0 in the FA Cup at the weekend, with Rosenior confirming he will not return for Sunday afternoon’s game against City. Fernandes has been in the spotlight for questioning his future at Stamford Bridge, while also having an affair with Real Madrid.<\/p>\n
Rossenyol said the Argentine player had “crossed a line” with his comment that he loved living in Spain. And the Chelsea manager stuck to his original decision to keep him out for two games.<\/p>\n
“I had a very good talk with Enzo, three or four of us. He apologized to me and to the club,” he said at the pre-match press conference. “We’ll deal with it after Sunday’s big game.<\/p>\n

“This is a serious meeting about serious things. I’m not questioning his character or who he is as a person, but I do believe that people make mistakes and we can’t go beyond the punishment for mistakes.”<\/p>\n
Asked about Fernandes’ return to the team, Rosenior added: “There are still some obstacles to overcome, but I won’t talk about them.”<\/p>\n
Fernandes’ agent Javier Pastore has criticized Chelsea for imposing sanctions on his client, but is now working to build bridges with the club’s hierarchy. “He’s the captain, he’s one of the leaders of the team, and he gave us the best performance on the pitch this season. He was just talking about the city,” he told Topmercato at FedEx’s “Move Like a Pro” event in Paris.<\/p>\n

“Then there were a lot of interviews in a short period of time where he talked about his future. The media mixed things up and started saying he was going to leave Chelsea. It’s nothing at all.”<\/p>\n
“We are on the same page as Chelsea. Yesterday and the day before yesterday, a settlement was reached between Chelsea and the player. There were no real problems. We cleared the air.”<\/p>\n
Rosenior initially said: “I spoke to Enzo. As a member of the football club, he will not be available for tomorrow’s game or for Manchester City. It’s a shame to talk like that. As a person and as a human being, I can’t say bad words. But a line has been crossed and we had to impose a sanction.”<\/p>\n
