Liverpool will lose long-time stars Andy Robertson and Mo Salah this summer, with Arne Slott’s side having a number of other issues to address in the transfer window.<\/h2>\n

Everything has changed at Liverpool this summer, with two long-serving stars announcing their departures and others looking to leave after difficult campaigns. Andy Robertson has joined Mohamed Salah in officially announcing his departure after nine years with the club, making the summer transfer window even more important.<\/p>\n
Liverpool spent around \u00a3450m last summer bringing in Milos Kerkes, Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, Jeremy Frimpong, Giovanni Leoni and Alexander Isak, but after a disastrous attempt to defend their Premier League title, they once again find themselves in dire need of new players.<\/p>\n
With the departures of Salah and Robertson, the backbone of Jurgen Klopp’s successful era has all but disappeared, leaving only Alisson and Virgil van Dijk, but questions swirl over their ability to perform consistently at the top level.<\/p>\n
After several failures in the transfer market, Fenway Sports Group owner and director of football Richard Hughes is under tremendous pressure to make a difference during the offseason and get the team back on track. But how do they do it?<\/p>\n
Here, Mirror Football takes a look at the team and considers who will join Salah and Robertson in saying farewell and who will be targeted as replacements in key positions.<\/p>\n

Liverpool’s backline has deteriorated significantly this season and changes are coming. Alisson has struggled with injuries this season, but the Reds already secured a back-up in the form of Giorgi Mamadashvili last summer, but he remains unconvinced. These two are likely to stay on next season as well.<\/p>\n
There will certainly be new faces in central defense, with Giovanni Leoni returning from an anterior cruciate ligament injury and Jeremy Jacquet joining from Rennes after signing for \u00a360m in January. They could replace Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez, who face uncertain futures.<\/p>\n
Konate’s contract expires in June, but his inconsistent form could see him follow Robertson and Salah into retirement as a free agent. The 28-year-old Gomez has one year left on his contract, but given his status as a reserve, there is a possibility he could leave.<\/p>\n

That means a new central defender could be on the cards this summer. Reports have linked Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix and Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi as possible candidates for the Premier League, while Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nnamdi Collins are also on the radar.<\/p>\n
Frimpong and Kerkes were essentially signed last summer as replacements for Trent Alexander-Arnold and Robertson, so little change is expected in those positions, with Conor Bradley and Kostas Tsimikas potentially providing back-up.<\/p>\n
midfield<\/h2>\n
In theory, Liverpool have plenty of quality options in central midfield, but their numbers have clearly dwindled this season. Jamie Carragher said last month: “The thing that impressed me most about Liverpool’s defeat was the press.” “Pressing wasn’t just Jurgen Klopp’s thing, but the point of people saying ‘it’s hard to go to Anfield’ is not that Liverpool are always great on the ball or that they have the best players.<\/p>\n
“It was about the pitch being tight, the fans being on you and Liverpool chasing you and winning the ball back and moving forward. That’s what’s sorely missing and that’s Liverpool’s biggest problem at the moment.”<\/p>\n
While Dominik Szoboszlai was at his best in 2025\/26, Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenbirch have both declined in form, meaning fresh faces could be needed in the middle of the park.<\/p>\n

Eduardo Camavinga has fallen slightly down the Real Madrid pecking order, but he is still only 23 years old and has a promising future. According to L’Equipe, Real are now open to offers for the midfielder who can bring back his intensity.<\/p>\n
attack<\/h2>\n
Liverpool made two record transfers last summer, spending \u00a3116m on Wertz and \u00a3125m on Isak, but still feel they need to make more signings a year on from Salah’s departure.<\/p>\n
“We can’t find a replacement for Molybdenum,” Slott said recently, saying the main solution is to make Wirtz, Ekitike and Isak fit at the same time. Of course, this is a valid point given Isak’s injury problems this season, but Rio Ngmoja has no intention of replacing Salah on his own. A signature is required.<\/p>\n
Bayern Munich star Michael Olysse has been touted by pundits, but there is no way the French star will be persuaded to leave his in-form, star-studded side to play in Liverpool’s game.<\/p>\n

RB Leipzig’s Yann Diomande is attracting a lot of attention, but he is only 19 years old and may require a lot of patience. Another interesting option is Brighton’s Yankuba Minte, who has been in the spotlight this season following his \u00a333m move from Newcastle and is reportedly being considered.<\/p>\n
Slott worked with the winger at Feyenoord during their Eredivisie days and could give the 21-year-old an advantage.<\/p>\n
