Tottenham Hotspur’s latest financial results show that its annual loss for the period ending 30 June 2025 rose to \u00a394.7m. The club also revealed in its accounts on Tuesday that it had more than \u00a3800m in debt.<\/p>\n
This stunning defeat highlights the difficult position the club is in, with relegation from the Premier League possible and their finances facing further damage. However, the club made a huge profit this season by reaching the last 16 of the Champions League.<\/p>\n
The poor performance of Tottenham’s men’s and women’s teams on the domestic pitch during the reporting period had a direct impact on TV and media revenues.<\/p>\n
The \u00a394.7 million loss for the year was before depreciation, amortization, player trades, interest and tax. Two years ago, the club recorded a loss of just \u00a326.2 million, which is an increase of more than 260%.<\/p>\n
In terms of the club’s gross and other income, this increased to \u00a3565.3 million during the reporting period, an increase of 7 per cent from the \u00a3528.2 million reported in 2024. This increase was driven by success in the Europa League, as well as strong commercial performance across sponsorships, merchandise sales and stadium events.<\/p>\n

In a statement accompanying the results, the club also confirmed increases in match revenue, UEFA prize money, commercial revenue and other income.<\/p>\n
“The increased number of matches played at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium resulted in match revenue of \u00a3126.5m (2024: \u00a3105.8m).” \u201cUEFA’s prize money was \u00a334.7m (2024: \u00a31.3m) arising from a successful Europa League campaign (2024: no European football).<\/p>\n
\u201cAs we finished 17th in the Premier League, TV and media income was \u00a3127m (2024: \u00a3165.9m). Other income, including commercial and sponsorship, merchandise sales, stadium events, visitor attractions, pre-season tours and conferences and events, increased to \u00a3277.1m (2024: \u00a3255.2m).\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite this, the club’s losses are on a steep upward trajectory. Television and media income fell from \u00a3165.9m to \u00a3127m in 2024, a 23% drop as Spurs finished 17th in the Premier League.<\/p>\n
Operating expenses (before player trades) also increased by 15% to \u00a3521.5m compared to \u00a3453.6m recorded in 2024.<\/p>\n

Operating profit, which excludes depreciation, amortization, player trades, interest and tax, fell by 22% to \u00a3112.3m from \u00a3144.9m.<\/p>\n
Spurs’ net debt is also shockingly high, at \u00a3831.2m (2024: \u00a3772.5m) at 30 June 2025. More than 90% of the total financial borrowing of \u00a3851.7m is fixed rate, with an average interest rate of 3.07%.<\/p>\n
The average maturity of these borrowings is 17.6 years, with some extending until 2051, helping to protect the Club’s long-term financial stability. It should also be noted that, like last year, no dividends were paid.<\/p>\n
Despite spending a net \u00a3150m on transfers last summer, Spurs sit 17th in the Premier League, just one point above the relegation zone. Failure to overcome this decline will be seen as a disaster for the club, which is still considered part of the ‘Big Six’.<\/p>\n
The financial impact will be devastating, but Spurs still have time to turn things around. The club’s next game is against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on April 12, but club leaders are working behind the scenes to appoint a new manager this week to give the players time to work with him.<\/p>\n
Roberto de Zerbi is now the front-runner in north London to take the job after negotiations took place on Monday. There are only seven games left until the new manager turns the club’s fortunes around.<\/p>\n
