Jurgen Klopp returned to Anfield to help manage Liverpool Legends against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday and spoke of his desire to return after the final whistle.<\/h2>\n

Manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed he will return to Anfield next year after enjoying the experience against the Legends on Saturday. The former Liverpool manager was part of Sir Kenny Dalglish’s coaching team on the occasion, with support from the LFC Foundation.<\/p>\n
Despite not being on the pitch, Klopp was still one of the star attractions of the game against the Borussia Dortmund legend. The German previously managed Dortmund and was Liverpool manager for eight-and-a-half years before stepping down at the end of the 2023-24 season.<\/p>\n
He is currently Red Bull’s global head of football, but will join Dalglish, Ian Rush and John Aldridge in managing a Liverpool team that includes familiar faces such as Steven Gerrard, Thiago Alcantara, Pepe Reina and Peter Crouch. Liverpool extended their lead to 2-0 with goals from Thiago and Jay Spearling, but Dortmund fought back to draw 2-2 at Anfield.<\/p>\n
Manager Klopp soaked up the love in the stadium and hinted at a return in the future. Klopp said: “It was good. Nothing really changed. I enjoyed every second.”<\/p>\n

“My role today was not to say many words. I came here for the Foundation and met the Liverpool and Dortmund players for the first time in a long time, which was a special experience that you don’t often get to meet.<\/p>\n
“It was really good today. The crowd was hooked. It was great to see the players play. Thiago alone was worth the ticket!” When asked if he would be back next year, Klopp replied: “Yes!”<\/p>\n
Klopp has been replaced in the Liverpool dugout by Arne Slott, with the Dutchman enduring an even more difficult second season after winning the Premier League last season. The Reds are fifth in the league table but still qualify for the FA Cup and Champions League.<\/p>\n

Klopp has been linked with a return to Liverpool, Real Madrid or the German national team, but is content with his role at Red Bull for now. “As a human being, I’m completely at peace with where I am. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else,” Klopp told AFP in January.<\/p>\n
“Do I want to coach again? I can say no at this point, but I can’t say absolutely, never, ever. I don’t think I’ll change my mind, but I don’t know.”<\/p>\n
But if he were to return to England, it would be with Liverpool. Because he can’t imagine managing a rival club. “I said I would never coach another team in England, so if I were to come back it would be Liverpool,” he said last year. “Well, theoretically it’s possible.”<\/p>\n
