BOSTON (AP) — Kylian Mbappe On Wednesday, he denied media reports that Real Madrid tested the wrong foot when the French star injured his knee late last year.

French broadcaster RMC Sport’s soccer program Afterfoot reported this week that the Spanish club first carried out scans on his right knee, rather than his left, in December. Other Spanish media outlets published similar articles, almost all citing RMC.

Mbappe played throughout January but then made his recent return after being sidelined for three-and-a-half weeks.

“The reports that the wrong knee was (tested) are false,” Mbappe said at a press conference ahead of the France match. world cup Warming up with Brazil.

“I think I’m probably indirectly responsible for this situation, because if you don’t communicate what’s going on, you open the door to other people’s interpretations.”

The club announced in late December that Mbappe sprained my left knee.

Mbappe said he had “very clear communication” with Real Madrid.

France plays Brazil in Foxboro on Thursday and Colombia in Landover on Sunday.

Monday in Paris Mbappe said his knee feels good. He has come on as a substitute in Real Madrid’s last two games and is looking to regain his form.

“There was a lot of frustration, a lot of anger and even some anxiety at one point,” Mbappé told French media at a promotional event late on Monday. “I had reached a stage where I didn’t even know what was wrong with me. I didn’t go through that period in the best way. I wasn’t the happiest player in the world. But I’m happy now because it’s really over for me. It’s all behind me.”
