The league has previously supported teams in European competitions.

I’m enjoying Ligue 1 Approaching the title fight. Lens are now one point behind PSG with one more game to play.

their confrontation is awkward champions league defending champions PSG hosted Liverpool three days ago and will play a return game at Anfield three days later.

The French league previously postponed PSG’s home match against Nantes, which was scheduled to be played against Reims, because it fell between their last-16 match against Chelsea. rested PSG beat Chelsea 8-2 On the aggregate.

But while Mr. Nantes agreed to change the schedule, Mr. Lens’ view was very different.

“We see a worrying feeling taking hold, that the French league is gradually being relegated to the status of a mere variable to accommodate the European ambitions of certain political parties,” Lens said. in a statement “This is a unique concept of sporting fairness, and it is difficult to find similarities with other major continental competitions.”

Lens claimed that they have the 10th biggest budget in Ligue 1, far behind PSG’s vast spending power, and that the smaller side would be exposed to a hectic schedule. I’m also playing with lenses. French Cup semi-final April 21st.

“The rescheduling of this match today means that Lens will be removed from competition for 15 days, after which he will have a match every three days,” Lens said. “It is a schedule that does not correspond to the schedule set at the beginning of the season, nor to the club’s resources that can absorb these kinds of new constraints without consequences.”

Reims won his only French title in 1998, but compared to his previous record. 13 wins as PSGeasily sealed last season’s trophy. PSG only lost twice, and those losses came after the title had been decided.

“Beyond this particular case, the issue being raised is more fundamental. It’s a question of respect due to competition itself,” Lenz added. “It’s natural to question this when the league appears to be relegated to other ambitions on its home turf.”

However, other factors can work against the lens.

Strasbourg reportedly want to be repositioned as their league match in Brest on April 12 falls between the Conference League quarter-finals against German club Mainz.

___

AP Soccer: https://apnews.com/hub/soccer

Source link

PARIS (AP) — Paris Saint-Germain wants to postpone their Ligue 1 title game against Reims because it falls between their Champions League quarter-final match against Liverpool.
