Newcastle were booed by supporters after suffering a heartbreaking late derby defeat to Sunderland, putting pressure on Magpies head coach Eddie Howe.<\/h2>\n

Eddie Howe insists he has no intention of leaving Newcastle after their side suffered a last-minute defeat to arch-rivals Sunderland in the Tyne Wear derby at St James’ Park.<\/p>\n
Newcastle led 1-0 at half-time, but two second-half goals, including the winner from Brian Brobbey, saw the Black Cats overtake their neighbors and claim a league double. Howe and his players were booed at the final whistle by furious fans, with the team now at risk of finishing bottom of the Premier League.<\/p>\n
A heartbroken Howe made no excuses for the defeat but insisted he was not going anywhere despite a tough week that saw Newcastle lose 7-2 to Barcelona in the Champions League Round of 16 final.<\/p>\n
After the match he said:<\/p>\n

“I’m disappointed with myself last week and how I did today. The Barcelona game was very tough. Today was even tougher. Today was an even tougher match.”<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, I mean, as I said after the Brentford game, I will always immerse myself in myself and not try to deflect that onto the players and protect them until my last breath.<\/p>\n
“That’s what I think. It’s going to be a tough, painful few days for me.”<\/p>\n
Just 10 minutes into the game, Anthony Gordon scored to give the Magpies the lead. But Kemzuddin Talbi scored the equalizer just before the hour mark, setting the stage for Blobby to plunder the most dramatic of winners.<\/p>\n

After the final whistle, Howe bluntly added: “I have very few excuses and I don’t want to go down that road. I never believed that, and I never will, because I never performed.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf we don’t deliver, it’s only natural that we’ll be criticized, and I understand why.<\/p>\n
“We understand the criticism after the game. We didn’t do our job well enough, so we expect some criticism. We’re very disappointed in ourselves.”<\/p>\n
“We have to suck it up. The only thing we can do is come back from it even stronger.”<\/p>\n

Howe added of the anger directed at him and his team at the final whistle: “It’s very, very painful. It’s painful most of all for our supporters and my thoughts are with them right now.”<\/p>\n
“There are very few excuses. Once you’ve never performed and you know how much this game means, you have to accept the criticism.<\/p>\n
“I understand the reaction after the game.<\/p>\n
“We never want a hostile reception from a crowd. We understand there will be criticism.”<\/p>\n
