Despite leading twice, Manchester United had to settle for a point against Bournemouth after Harry Maguire was given a red for a foul in the area.<\/h2>\n

Man United caretaker manager Michael Carrick felt his team were treated harshly against Bournemouth<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n
Michael Carrick has described the penalty decision as “mental” and “astonishing” after Harry Maguire was sent off during Manchester United’s game against Bournemouth.<\/p>\n
United manager Carrick was furious that his side were not awarded a penalty for Adrian Truffert’s challenge on Amad Diallo before Bournemouth had a chance to score.<\/p>\n
Maguire also received his marching orders to challenge Evanilsson, giving Junior Crupi the chance to equalize from the spot as United twice took the lead.<\/p>\n
But Carrick was furious, believing that the award given to Matheus Cunha after a challenge by Alex Jimenez was inconsistent with referee Stuart Attwell’s decision to award a penalty.<\/p>\n

Carrick was furious: “For him (Stuart Attwell) to give one penalty and not the other…I think he’s crazy. I don’t understand it. Mentally. It’s amazing. One of us must be wrong.”<\/p>\n
“With a big chance to go 2-0 up, we got one penalty and we didn’t get the other. It’s exactly the same thing, you grab it with both hands. He (the referee) got one wrong so I don’t know which one, but he didn’t give us the second one.”<\/p>\n
“I think they were both penalties and it was a critical moment in the game and then it was chaos. It’s a critical moment and I don’t understand how they would give one and not the other. It’s crazy.”<\/p>\n
“That’s as clear as it can be. He’s already given one, so it’s clear he won’t give the other one. If he believes it was a penalty to begin with, then the second one must also be a penalty. I don’t understand why he can’t give it.”<\/p>\n

“Then we got the goal and it was chaos after that. I was really happy when we played with 10 men and we got a really positive point.”<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the end of the day, you can lose in this game, so we\u2019re going to go for it to get points on his end, but it\u2019s a shame we couldn\u2019t get all three.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Carrick admitted that United are hoping to agree new deals with Maguire and Koby Mainou, who was recalled from the England squad for friendlies against Uruguay and Japan.<\/p>\n
Carrick added: “Contract negotiations with all the players are ongoing. Whatever it is, we hope it’s done in the right way. They’re both fantastic and they’re both back in the England squad.”<\/p>\n
