Despite being under sanctions, they were given license to sell the club to a consortium including Todd Boley and Behada Egbali because the funds had been donated to victims of the war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">But there has since been a stalemate over how and where the money should be spent, with accounts released last week by Mr Abramovich&#8217;s firm Fordstam showing only that he &#8220;intends&#8221; to donate \u00a3987 million to charity after repaying an interest-free loan used to finance Chelsea, rather than the full amount for which the club was sold.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The deadline for Mr Abramovich to release the funds passed earlier this week &#8211; and Sky reports that Russia&#8217;s legal team has now been told that the UK government is preparing possible legal action.<\/p>\n<p><span data-testid=\"readmore\" class=\"ReadMore_readmore-prefix__xS44r __className_44230e\">read more: <span class=\"ReadMore_readmore-link__eF9pN\">Liam Rosenior&#8217;s reaction to the bombshell about Enzo Fernandes&#8217; transfer speaks volumes<\/span><\/span><span data-testid=\"readmore\" class=\"ReadMore_readmore-prefix__xS44r __className_44230e\">read more: <span class=\"ReadMore_readmore-link__eF9pN\">Josep Guardiola hits back at Real Madrid&#8217;s claims over Jurgen Klopp&#8217;s confession<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">A government spokesperson said: &#8220;We gave Roman Abramovich one last chance to do the right thing.
