NEW YORK (AP) \u2014 National Women’s Soccer League<\/span> I’m coming to New York City. <\/p>\n

Gotham FC will host the Washington Spirit at Citi Field on July 15th in a game known as the Queen’s Classic. This will be the first time an NWSL match will be held in the city. <\/p>\n

Both clubs aim to break attendance records for women’s sporting events in New York City. More than 28,000 fans gathered for the 2023 US Open women’s singles final.<\/p>\n

The game, which will be played at the home of baseball’s New York Mets, will be a rematch of last season’s NWSL Championship Game. Gotham defeated Spirit 1-0<\/span> About Rose Lovell’s title-winning goal. <\/p>\n

The Queen’s Classic is scheduled to be held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, four days before the Men’s World Cup final. <\/p>\n

“This summer will be a transformational year for soccer in our region,” Ryan Dillon, Gotham’s chief business officer, said in a statement Tuesday. “As the world’s attention focuses on New York, we are truly excited to put women’s sports and world-class athletes at the heart of Gotham FC.” “It’s going to be a summer that makes football history, and this event ensures we’re a part of it.”<\/p>\n
