At 7:15pm on a Saturday, everything felt completely different. Arsenal were heading for a goalless draw at home with Everton, but this result would have undoubtedly given Manchester City’s side a boost ahead of their match against West Ham.<\/p>\n
However, late goals from Victor Gokeres and Max Doman gave the Gunners three points and changed the course of what was a crucial day in the race for the Premier League title. Things got even better for Mikel Arteta when former Arsenal star Konstantinos Mavropanos’ header saw City drop points for the second straight game.<\/p>\n
The results from the weekend leave a nine-point difference between the favorites with seven and eight games remaining, respectively. Thanks to cup competitions and international breaks, there is now almost a month until the title race resumes, leaving plenty of time for discussion.<\/p>\n

Is it really over? It’s not a joke. And no one knows that better than Mikel Arteta. Back in 2012, Arsenal scored the winning goal late on to beat Manchester City, leaving them eight points behind rivals United with six games remaining.<\/p>\n
Still, City were crowned champions again with an ‘Aguero’ moment. If Arsenal weren’t already nervous enough, it should be a timely reminder.<\/p>\n
Having said that, I think if Arsenal win their remaining home games (Bournemouth, Newcastle, Fulham, Burnley) and draw two of their remaining three games (away City, away West Ham, away Crystal Palace) they will be enough to become champions.<\/p>\n
Arsenal can take 12 points if they beat Bournemouth in their next game. The next game is against City, as Josep Guardiola’s side have to travel to Chelsea a day later. Look at the table. This is a three-game swing and Arsenal have seven games left.<\/p>\n

But here’s the problem. It’s a small margin. Even if Arsenal hadn’t beaten Everton on Saturday, I’m sure City would have won at West Ham. why? City would have risen this much if Arsenal had dropped points. In fact, they were depressed.<\/p>\n
One of the biggest turning points of the season was City’s win over Liverpool. Because of that, Arsenal were flat. It really hit them hard. They are important and that is why the title fight is not over yet.<\/p>\n

The scene at Emirates on Saturday night was what you would expect from a title-winning moment. No wonder. Because, especially when Manchester City then drew against West Ham, it was a real moment for them to win the title.<\/p>\n
No twists, wobbles, or chokes. The current form makes it clear that Pep Guardiola’s side will not be able to achieve amazing results and that Mikel Arteta’s side will continue to rack up wins.<\/p>\n
Even if City beat Arsenal at the Emirates, they will likely drop points elsewhere. The Gunners need a maximum of 12 points from their remaining seven Premier League games and I think they should get that from their four home games.<\/p>\n
In fact, this is a title fight that could be decided in the first weekend of May. When Max Daumann scored his second goal against Everton, they were excited as if they had won. No wonder. they have.<\/p>\n

The Premier League won’t need helicopters to deliver trophies this time. All they have to do is arrive at Selhurst Park on the final day of the season. Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal team can now aim high for the first time since 2003.<\/p>\n
Arsenal have had their share of instability, and now City have theirs too. The difference between these two teams is now too much for City to make up. In fact, as things stand, Manchester United, led by Josep Guardiola, are closer to third-placed City than Arsenal.<\/p>\n
Say all you want about Arsenal’s style of play, but who cares? They have been the best and most consistent team this season and will be the team to win.<\/p>\n

Fat women can’t sing very well, but their vocal cords are often oily. After all, we’ll be looking back on this weekend, especially Max Dorman’s goal, as the moment Arsenal ended their title drought.<\/p>\n
City need to start in next weekend’s Carabao Cup final if they are to turn the tables. They need to set a marker against the Gunners and follow that up with victory at the Etihad on April 19.<\/p>\n
If they win both games, it will likely leave Mikel Arteta’s side reeling. But City continue to show they are fallible and Erling Haaland does not have the aura of his best form. It’s not finished yet, but it’s very close.<\/p>\n

It may have been confusing, but Josep Guardiola’s comments on Friday were clearly an attempt at mind games. Guardiola said if his team dropped a point against West Ham, their title race would be over.<\/p>\n
City did that and then predictably made a U-turn. And he’s right, of course it’s not over yet. This is Arsenal and Manchester City we’re talking about – both have been through this kind of thing before.<\/p>\n
I believe the Gunners will go all the way, but even though City currently have no games scheduled, there are two games that could change the game, one of which isn’t even a league match. This Sunday’s Carabao Cup final will be a hot topic.<\/p>\n
If Arsenal win, I can see them gaining momentum and destroying City for good. The lack of silverware will no longer be against the Gunners and after their draw at the Emirates in September, they will have proven they can beat their opponents.<\/p>\n
But once City lift the trophy, the competition begins. Victory at Wembley will make their clash at the Etihad in April even more important. Guardiola’s side will need Arsenal to come back at least once, but a win against Arsenal in their remaining five games could seal a grandstand finish.<\/p>\n

It certainly feels like Arsenal have the Premier League trophy in their hands. A nine-point lead with seven games remaining feels like an almost insurmountable advantage for most of the chasing pack.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately for Arsenal, it is Manchester City who are chasing them. Josep Guardiola’s side could easily shorten that lead in the coming weeks. With games still in hand and a fixture against Arsenal next month, the Gunners’ lead could be reduced to just three points heading into the final few games of the season.<\/p>\n
Of course, that still leaves the Gunners in control, but they have crumbled under pressure in recent seasons, so there’s a good chance it could happen again.<\/p>\n
Will it happen? Actually I don’t think so. This time, Arsenal is made up of tougher members and has enough power to get them over the line. But they are very wrong to think that their work is already done.<\/p>\n
